That also does not account for the lives lost, the taxpayer dollars wasted, the depletion of our munitions, and the higher gas prices crushing American families. The president’s reckless and illegal war has been a complete failure.
The Trump administration wants to spend another $200 billion in the war with Iran, but they refuse to take care of veterans here at home. Congress should restore these housing benefits that keep men and women who served our nation in their homes.
More than 10,000 veterans lost their homes to foreclosure since May of last year, when the Trump admin shut down a key safety net in the VA home loan program, according to the latest industry data. That is the highest pace of foreclosures for VA loans in a decade.
Last year, Republicans gutted American health care programs to fund more tax cuts for the wealthiest among us. Then, they allowed the expiration of ACA tax credits that help working-class families afford health care. Now, one third of Americans are having to choose between food and health care.
About one third of Americans say they have skipped meals, borrowed money, or cut back on utilities to pay for health care. That's in a Gallup poll released in March. cbsn.ws/4sT3ZzD
I completely agree with @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social. The Republican shutdown of DHS has gone on long enough. The Speaker should immediately call the House back into session to vote on the bipartisan proposal that will fund these agencies and pay federal employees.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday called on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to bring the lower chamber back from recess to reopen the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Missouri families are already struggling with rising energy costs due to the president’s reckless war in Iran. Now, the administration wants to make matters worse by slashing investments in energy assistance programs. I won’t stand for it. thehill.com/policy/energ...
Happy National Public Health Week! This week, we celebrate the dedicated public health professionals who keep our communities safe and recommit to protecting public health programs like Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act!
The president’s vulgar & blasphemous message on Easter Sunday is deserving of universal condemnation. The president’s threat to commit war crimes, while demeaning the Christian & Muslim faiths, should have every American deeply concerned—and Congress voting to rein in this reckless administration.
"Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell" -- Jake Tapper reads Trump's Truth Social post on air
The president is asking Congress to provide hundreds of billions of additional tax dollars to support his war in the Middle East, paid for by slashing investments in housing, health care, and education for the American people. I cannot support that.
Breaking News: The White House said it would ask Congress for about $1.5 trillion for defense in 2027, its highest level in modern history.
From innovative rehab services to a compassionate team committed to recovery, Ignite is helping folks heal with dignity and get back on their feet. Proud to support work that puts patients first.
This investment not only opens doors for students by enabling new research and providing additional experience, but it also strengthens our local talent pipeline and positions our region as a leader in innovation.
I was proud to secure over $1 million in federal funding to help @rockhurstu.bsky.social expand their cutting-edge programs in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence – fields that are critical to our national security and economic growth.
I’m pleased that Speaker Johnson has finally agreed to pass bipartisan legislation to fund critical agencies like TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard. Democrats will continue fighting for desperately needed reforms to rein in the president’s extreme mass deportation agenda.
In a significant retreat for Mike Johnson and House Republicans, GOP leaders have reached a deal to end the DHS shutdown
America does not lack the resources to care for our citizens—we lack the leadership. Democrats will continue fighting for investments in healthcare, childcare, and working-class families that make life more affordable here at home.
Trump: We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things.
