We Deliver for Memphis — including preserving our civil rights history.
I secured $1.2M in funding to restore Mason Temple, where Dr. King gave his final “Mountaintop” speech. This investment will protect a cornerstone of Memphis history and allow it to keep serving the community for years to come.

I'm cosponsoring articles of impeachment against Trump with @johnlarsonct.bsky.social.
His lawlessness is escalating—threatening war crimes, turning military forces on our own cities, abusing the pardon power and undermining our credibility.
Where's the line?
This vote needs to be on the record.

Current efforts to get rid of Presidential Records Act connected to efforts to get rid of talk about classified documents case?

The Memphis Sand Aquifer is one of our most important assets. It must be protected at all costs.
The greywater facility was xAI’s assurance to Memphis that they would do just that.
We need rock-solid, airtight assurances this will be built. Not just promises. Full statement ⬇️

If Melania is interested in the Epstein files her big investigation should start with her husband.
Funny how the Epstein tapes vanished right after Trump & Bill Barr’s DOJ raided his townhouse.
That’s the smoking gun. For years I’ve been the ONLY one in Congress consistently demanding the truth.

Trump took classified documents and obstructed efforts to get them back. The question is—why?
That answer is in a sealed report the public still hasn’t seen. I introduced the Volume II Transparency Act because if there’s evidence of obstruction, it can't stay buried. The public has a right to know.
Proud to earn a 100% on the Alliance for Retired Americans’ 2025 Scorecard for protecting Social Security, health care and nutrition programs—and opposing GOP bills to cut those services & give tax breaks to billionaires and giant corporations.
The rest of TN's congressional delegation scored a 0%.
Attended a panel at the 15th Annual Rx & Illicit Drug Summit today where a Republican claimed Democrats are keeping DHS unfunded, hurting drug prevention efforts.
I countered that these efforts aren't hindered by banning masks or wearing body cameras. Reforms let DHS prioritize keeping drugs out.
Trump’s proposed attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran tonight must be stopped.
Calling for the end of Persian ‘civilization’ is a call for genocide, and any decent human being must oppose it. His actions make him unfit for office.

Had the honor of joining the Memphis Zoo on Saturday to celebrate its 120th anniversary.
Proud to speak at the ribbon-cutting ceremony kicking off this milestone year for one of Memphis’s most beloved institutions.
Great to join the April 4th Foundation for its 26th Annual MLK Commemorative Awards Banquet. Inspiring to be with so many outstanding honorees and especially to hear from Ambassador Andrew Young, whose life of service continues to inspire.
Dr. King’s dream is not yet fulfilled. It’s on us to carry it forward.
Yesterday, I joined the April 4th commemoration at the National Civil Rights Museum, reflecting on MLK Jr’s legacy.
He warned of the “giant triplets” of militarism, materialism, and racism, and we still see all three today — from Iran to growing inequality to persistent injustice.
Pam Bondi's tenure was one failure after another. She should have been fired months ago.
She ALWAYS put loyalty to Trump over the law, from the Epstein files to weaponizing the DOJ.
She wasn't good at it, but Trump stood by—until Bondi embarrassed him. What he can't tolerate is being laughed at.
More here on Monday’s groundbreaking of Greenbelt Landing from the Daily Memphian.
This project is a great effort to increase public access to our downtown and waterfront, create new recreational space, and increase tourism. Proud to support it with $3 million in federal Community Project Funding.

Trump triggered a global energy crisis when he dragged America to war with Iran. Now they’re scrambling for answers—and their first move is another sideshow that won’t lower gas prices but will irreparably harm marine wildlife in the Gulf.
Our dependency on the oil and gas industry is killing us.
