Last weekend, I was proud to join Juneteenth celebrations in both Santa Barbara and Lompoc. The community came together to honor a powerful moment in our history, celebrate the progress made so far, and recommit to the fight for full equality.
I was in Santa Barbara to introduce my American Dream for All Act, which would provide the next generation the support they need to overcome the steep cost of a down payment to buy their first home. With my bill, first-time homebuyers can take their first steps toward achieving the American Dream.
Instead of lowering costs for Americans, Trump's tariff chaos continues to hurt our economy. How can families and businesses plan for the future with such unstable trade policies? Our country deserves better.
Excited to have met AC Connor, this year’s Congressional Art Competition first place winner! 🎨 Each year, Central Coast students amaze me with their creativity—and AC’s work is no exception. Congrats as well to: 🗳️ People’s Choice: Kaitlyn Marden 🏅 Runners-Up: Sophie Dawes & Aliana Ventura
Thank you Sec. Becerra for coming to Santa Barbara today for a critical conversation with CenCal Health, @ppcacentralcoast.bsky.social, and Access Central Coast about the GOP’s cruel plan to slash Medicaid & other health benefits.
The Trump Administration is attacking our veterans yet again. This appalling policy is an insult to every American who answered the call to serve this country. As a veteran myself, I will fight to ensure ALL veterans can access their benefits—regardless of who they voted for or their marital status.
As wildfires continue to threaten our communities, we must ensure local fire departments have every tool they need. That's why I helped lead a bipartisan bill—that was signed into law—to boost our aerial firefighting fleet and give first responders the air support they need to combat severe fires.
As a dad, I know there’s no greater responsibility—or joy—than raising a child. On this #FathersDay, I’m remembering my own dad and celebrating all the fathers and father figures who lead with love, patience, and purpose.
Unfortunately, today’s parade isn’t about truly honoring our troops, it’s about political theater. Our servicemembers deserve better than to be used as props. Let’s celebrate their legacy with gratitude, not grandstanding.
I’m deeply disturbed by the targeted murder of MN State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband. My thoughts are with MN Sen. John Hoffman and his wife as they undergo medical treatment. My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of both lawmakers in the wake of this horrific attack.
DEVELOPING: Minnesota lawmaker and husband were killed, another injured in what Gov. Walz called a “politically motivated assassination.” The suspect remains at large.
Today on #FlagDay, we honor the American flag as a symbol of our shared values—freedom, democracy, and unity. Let it remind us of the work still ahead to build a more perfect union for all who call this country home.
Tomorrow’s military parade isn’t about honoring service—it’s about staging a spectacle. True patriotism means supporting our servicemembers year-round: ensuring they have the benefits, health care, and support they’ve earned—not just putting them on display for political gain.
We cannot let Iran's hardline regime succeed in developing nuclear weapons and the U.S. must stand firm in supporting Israel's sovereign right to defend itself from this threat.
With so many innocent civilian lives at stake, it is important that the United States work with our regional and global partners to pursue a diplomatic resolution that provides long-term stability in the region.
Senator Padilla went to Secretary Noem’s open press conference and was violently assaulted for asking questions on behalf of his constituents. This is beyond unacceptable and DHS must be held accountable.
BREAKING: Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., speaks out after being forcibly removed and cuffed from DHS Sec. Noem's press conference.
