NEWS: I have introduced legislation that would ban the use of US-origin weapons in Gaza and the West Bank if Israel violates the October 10, 2025, ceasefire agreement and 20-point plan, annexes the West Bank or Gaza, or fails to combat settler violence against Palestinians. (1/2)

Ensures U.S. weapons are transferred and used in accordance with American values and American laws.
Supports Palestinian freedom and self-determination through accountable governance and a credible political path.
Conditions U.S. weapons transfers on ceasefire compliance, bans annexation of the West Bank and Gaza, and restricts resumption of airstrikes in Gaza.
I’m excited to see this federal funding come to the 6th District, as Sutherland Elementary is turning its greenspace into a new artificial turf field. This is a worthy investment in our students and our community.
Earlier this month, I was honored to recognize an incredible constituent on the House floor. Sondra LaPointe is a 7th grade social studies teacher at Westview Middle School in Willowbrook, Illinois, and she is making a real difference in the lives of our future leaders.
Americans have seen a surge in prices on groceries, utilities, and life under the Trump Administration. Last week, I was proud to vote to terminate Trump’s tariffs on Canada. Tariffs drive inflation, and we have to put an end to the president’s attacks on our economy.
Today, I honor and recognize the life of the late Reverend Jesse Jackson. A proud Chicagoan and a tireless champion for justice, Rev. Jackson devoted his life to advancing civil rights, economic opportunity, and human dignity for all. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Thank you for spreading the love! This year, my office received over 2,700 cards from across the district to remind our veterans how appreciated they are this Valentine’s Day. Whether you sent 1 card or 5, you helped make a real difference, and my office wishes you a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
The Trump Administration is attacking your right to breathe clean air. The science is clear. Climate change is an existential threat to our species. Limiting our ability to regulate pollution serves only to doom the only planet we have to pass on to our children. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/12/c...
I always say that IL-06 is home to the most talented individuals, and hearing from Olympian speed skater Sarah Warren was proof of that. Her story, her grit, and her commitment to representing the district show exactly what makes our community so special.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau exists to protect Americans. The Trump Administration’s efforts to sideline the agency hurts families and their pocketbooks.
As families across the U.S. face rising housing costs, I was proud to help pass the Housing for the 21st Century Act, a bipartisan bill to make homeownership more attainable for Americans. This bill represents an important first step toward addressing our nation’s affordable housing crisis.
Early voting in Cook County will begin on February 18th, and early voting at the Chicago supersite and Board of Elections office begins on February 12th.
January was a busy month, and I’m proud to share what I’ve been working on for the people of Illinois’ 6th District. I look forward to continuing this work throughout the year. For more updates, subscribe to my newsletter at casten.house.gov
Last week, Secretary Rubio told a Senate committee that Treasury had an agreement with auditors to oversee Venezuelan assets. Treasury Secretary Bessent told me no such agreement exists.
The Trump Administration claims the Treasury has authority over Venezuelan assets. I asked Treasury Secretary Bessent directly what grants him this authority. He seemed to have no idea that he controlled these assets, let alone the authority behind them.
