Trump’s move to deploy the National Guard in Los Angeles is a disturbing abuse of power that puts public safety at risk. Undermining state authority and using military force as domestic law enforcement sets a dangerous precedent, especially at a moment of heightened tension. (1/2)
🚨 As the top Dem on the Health Subcommittee, I'm calling on NIH Director Bhattacharya to appear before Energy and Commerce over alarming disruptions at NIH. With thousands of staff layoffs, research grants canceled, and massive cuts, the threat this Admin poses to our health is too high to ignore.
Grateful to @bennet.senate.gov for co-leading our bipartisan resolution condemning the horrific and antisemitic act of terror in Boulder, and to my colleagues — including all Democratic members of Colorado’s delegation and Republican Reps. Hurd and Crank, for supporting the effort.
Well, a lot has happened this week... But here’s what really matters: Republicans are pushing their Big Bad Budget Bill, which the CBO confirmed will leave 16 million Americans uninsured & explode the deficit. But our work is not over. I am continuing to fight back against this disastrous bill.
This is blatant political punishment. The only reason they are forcing this bill through is that House Republicans disagree with Denver’s policies. Moreover, this bill will only further the confusion and chaos small business owners are experiencing thanks to Trump’s reckless economic agenda.
For years, we have heard Trump whine about political prosecution and targeting political opponents. Today, House Republicans are weaponizing our government against Democratic-led cities to cut vital access to the SBA for the countless entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout our region.
This isn’t about “saving” taxpayers’ money. It’s about rubber-stamping Donald Trump’s extreme, reckless agenda. These cuts will only make us weaker here at home and abroad, and I’m fighting to stop it. (2/2)
The Big Bogus Bill was a disaster before the nonpartisan CBO scored it, but now we know it’s even worse. Trump’s bill will directly add $2.4 trillion to the national debt and leave nearly 11 million Americans uninsured. I won’t stop fighting against this shameless scam.
I’m devastated to hear of the attack in Boulder that injured multiple people. Hate has no place in Colorado or anywhere in our country, and I’m praying for a swift recovery for those injured and accountability for those involved in the attack.
June is Gun Violence Awareness Month—and in Colorado, we feel this crisis deeply. From Columbine to Aurora to Boulder, we owe it to the victims and survivors to act. That’s why I reintroduced the Keeping Americans Safe Act this Congress to remove weapons of war from our streets once and for all.
As a founding member of the Equality Caucus, I’ve spent my career fighting so that everyone, no matter who they love or how they identify, lives with dignity, safety, & equality. During Pride Month, we celebrate the progress we’ve made & recommit to the work ahead to uplift the LGBTQIA+ community.
If you or someone you know has a case before the immigration court, please do not go alone. Always consult with and be accompanied by a qualified immigration attorney. Our community deserves compassion, due process, and dignity.
Trump wants to instill fear in immigrant communities and undermine trust in our justice system. Everyone, regardless of immigration status, should be able to access our courts without fear of intimidation.
I am deeply concerned by reports that a family, including a toddler, was arrested at the Denver Immigration Court while appearing for their scheduled proceedings. The admin is not targeting criminals or public safety threats, it is targeting families trying to navigate a broken immigration system.
SCOTUS's decision lays the groundwork for an environmental catastrophe. Allowing the construction of the Uinta Basin Railway to begin will harm communities it passes through, like Denver, & will further devastate areas surrounding the facilities where the oil transported on this line would burn.
This article is further proof that RFK Jr. has no business serving as Secretary of Health and Human Services. He is deeply unqualified, ignores proven treatments and cures, and will fake studies in an attempt to legitimize his pseudo-science. Our public health community deserves more.
