The president and Elon Musk decimated the federal workforce last year, driving close to 1,000 employees out of the nation’s top cybersecurity agency. Republicans were silent then. Now, all of a sudden, they are "defenders" of cybersecurity. It's political theater.
I join American families, free speech advocates, and dog-lovers across the nation in breathing a sigh of relief that Kristi Noem is no longer in a position of power in this government. She will not be missed.
House Republicans are using President Trump’s war with Iran to force Congress to fund ICE & CBP without reforms. I introduced a bill to fund DHS except for the rogue agencies, so negotiations can continue. Republicans are blocking this measure.
Gas prices are skyrocketing. Americans are paying almost 30 cents more for gas per gallon than they did last week. President Trump should be helping Americans with high costs, but his reckless war is raising prices.
The conviction of a Georgia father whose son used an unsecured firearm in a school shooting shows the growing momentum for parental accountability and safe storage. Ethan's Law would take the next step, establishing federal storage rules and penalties. Safe storage saves lives.
93 years ago, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Frances Perkins as U.S. Secretary of Labor, becoming the first female cabinet member in American history. Frances was a trailblazer. Let us honor and continue her fight for workers rights.
Wishing a happy Purim to the Jewish community!   The Purim festival commemorates the survival and resilience of the Jewish people. I hope that all who are celebrating have a joyous time with family and friends!
I condemn the actions by President Trump and Israel. President Trump is risking the lives of American personnel and the stability of the entire region, without Congressional approval and without any articulated plan.
On International Small Dog Day, we’re celebrating the little pups who bring so much joy to our lives. Proud to share these small but mighty members of Team DeLauro who brighten our days 🐾💜
President Trump is setting the stage to steal the midterm elections and set fire to our democracy - peddling the lie that 2020 was stolen. It was not. We will fight for our democracy and safeguard the right to vote.
Exclusive: Pro-Trump activists are circulating a draft executive order alleging Chinese interference in the 2020 election, proposing a national emergency to expand presidential power over voting, like banning mail ballots and voting machines.
For Black History Month, I want to highlight CT native Constance Baker Motley—the 1st Black woman to argue before the Supreme Court & become a federal judge. I proudly introduced a bill to honor her judicial service & civil rights contributions with a Congressional Gold Medal.
Beneath all his bluster & boasting is the fact that he doesn't care about the struggles of the American people.   His signature achievement last year was a tax bill that gave away $4.5 trillion to the wealthy & the biggest corporations, & which gutted Medicaid to pay for it.
5 years ago today, the House passed the Equality Act to enshrine explicit civil rights protections for LGBTQI+ Americans. I proudly voted for this legislation back then, & I will continue to fight alongside my @equality.house.gov colleagues to ensure this critical bill becomes law.
