Here we go again. Texas Republicans are always eager to divide local communities of interest to minimize their own accountability. Now they are apparently being urged by their cult leader, Donald Trump, to engage in another round of extreme gerrymandering. (1/2)
In another attack on science and public health, RFK has abruptly fired the entire independent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which makes recommendations on who receive certain vaccines and when. This is a deadly move that every Republican should denounce. #FireRFK
Following deeply troubling reporting that UnitedHealth Medicare DisAdvantage plans pay nursing homes to deny necessary hospital care, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and I are pressing the Justice Department to investigate this potential rampant fraud, waste, and abuse endangering residents.
I'm joining @velshimsnbc.bsky.social at 10am CT to talk about Trump and Republican lies about the economy and their one big ugly bill that will deny health care and food assistance for millions of Americans in order to pay for more billionaire tax breaks.

Congratulations, Texas Softball! After a thrilling 3-game series against our friends up in Lubbock, Texas Fight prevailed to bring the national championship home to Austin for the first time in program history.
81 years ago, American troops and allied forces bravely stormed the beaches of Normandy—a pivotal moment in the liberation of Europe. By remembering their heroic stories and sacrifices on D-Day, we can ensure democracy continues to prevail against any attempts to weaken it at home or abroad.
Summer travel is ramping up, and our airport's air traffic controllers are still overworked and understaffed. I continue to fight for more resources because the FAA's failures are creating dangerous safety lapses, and travelers are too often inconvenienced with delays.
Republicans added more ugly details in the middle of the night to make their “big beautiful bill” even uglier. Now estimates show that 16 million Americans are about to lose access to a physician, medications, and more. That’s not cost-cutting; it’s care-cutting—a painful loss to so many families.
Outrageous backroom deal between Abbott and Trump after TX legislature refused to deny undocumented, tax-paying Texas residents the right to an education. I’ve met with many Dreamers who contribute to our economy as nurses, lawyers, teachers & more. These are our neighbors; they deserve our respect.
I convened local health experts to discuss the many ugly details of Republicans’ bill, including the impact on 1.2 million Texans expected to lose access to a physician & the many others who will face increased costs. Pleased local pediatrician, Dr. Kimberly Avila Edwards, joined to offer insights.
Good discussion with Robert Hull, the Consul General of Ireland in Austin, about our shared vision to accelerate economic growth in Central Texas. Unlike Trump's trade war raising costs on Americans, I'm working to strengthen bilateral partnerships that contribute to Austin as a world-class city.
Even Musk concedes the ugliness in “the one big beautiful bill.” While his arithmetic is off and he will undoubtedly prescribe the wrong remedy for correcting it, more and more people are recognizing that this Republican monstrosity spikes the national debt by trillions and poses a serious danger.
The Trump/Musk admin took a wrecking ball to the FAA, leaving our skies less safe. Internal assessment shows the FAA may not be able to meet statutory and regulatory requirements, like issuing directives to airlines on plane safety & processing medical clearances for pilots/air traffic controllers.
As more and more passengers visit Austin's airport, space limitations and understaffed FAA air traffic controllers are leading to travel inconveniences and safety concerns. I spoke to CBS Austin about my work to get more resources and fully qualified controllers to help meet growing demands.
