Last year, President Trump and Congressional Republicans enacted policies that will take health care away from hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans. Their health care cuts will threaten jobs and lives, and they must be immediately reversed.
As the Trump Administration cuts funding from hospitals, we must address the nursing shortage. I introduced the bipartisan Nurse Faculty Shortage Reduction Act to close the pay gap between clinical nursing and nurse faculty roles. This investment will address a root cause of our nursing shortage.
Today, we remember the six million Jews and countless other victims of the Holocaust. Never again can we allow such barbarity to take place.
After serving their country, veterans shouldn't have to struggle to afford or access healthy foods. But more than 25% of post-9/11 veterans are food-insecure.
I introduced the bipartisan Produce Prescription for Veterans Act to give veterans the means to access healthy food & live healthier lives.
Americans see this for what it is.
Masked, untrained, undisciplined federal agents injuring and murdering people, wreaking havoc across the country.
Time for it to end. ICE out.

NEWS: Recent estimates indicate more than half a million Illinoisans will lose their health insurance because of Congressional Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.
Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.
She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.
We need to reform immigration detention.
Secretary Noem dodged sworn testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee for a full year.
Now she expects us to rubber stamp her budget?
No.
With all of the violence and deaths involving DHS, the Secretary is apparently in no hurry to account for her mismanagement of this national crisis.
And she expects us to rubber stamp her record-breaking budget in the meantime.
Secretary Noem refused to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee last year and now tells us that she will be available in five weeks—should she still be DHS Secretary at that time.
…should she still be DHS Secretary.
Oversight of immigration detention, especially medical care, urgently needs reform.
When human beings are in the government’s custody, we are responsible for them.
From housing to health care, President Trump’s economic policies are making Americans pay more for their necessities. While the $1,781 Trump has cost Illinoisans may seem like pocket change to President Trump and his billionaire buddies, it makes all the difference for Illinois families.
Another tragic, fatal shooting by a federal immigration officer in Minnesota.
This is heartbreaking and infuriating. My office is gathering information as we speak.
But what we do know: ICE’s egregious, reckless behavior in our communities must come to an end.
Now.
After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, our European allies fought alongside American forces in Afghanistan because we asked them to. President Trump’s comments denigrate their legacy and dishonor the brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of America.
Illinois farmers are struggling from Trump’s tariffs with little help from USDA. Midwestern biofuels and a permanent E15 law will help farmers now. Last year, Elon Musk killed it. Now, the GOP House blocked it.
While President Trump bails out Argentina, he is neglecting rural America.
As extreme cold is expected to hit Illinois tomorrow, I hope everyone is taking proper precautions to stay warm. To find a warming center: www.arcgis.com/apps/dashboa...
