Last night, I accepted an award from @protectwildutah.bsky.social and spoke about the importance of protecting our public lands. It has been my honor to work with them to safeguard fragile landscapes so they may be enjoyed by generations of future Americans.
Today, I met with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chicago District Commander Colonel Kenneth Rockwell to receive an update on some of the most critical infrastructure projects in Northern Illinois and how the federal government can best support the Corps’ work.
Happy 189th birthday Chicago! For nearly two centuries, our great city has shown an endless capacity for reinvention, growth, and dynamism. May Chicago continue to thrive for many more birthdays to come!
Our Founders were wise on this point: one should never send our sons and daughters into war without the consent of the people. I have made this argument throughout my Congressional career, regardless of if the President is a Democrat or Republican.
Local radio and television stations provide Illinoisans with essential emergency information and informative, entertaining programming. Today, I met with members of the Illinois Broadcasters Association to discuss how Congress can best support their important work.
Secretary Noem may not know it, but DACA recipients are being wrongfully deported. Under the law, they are supposed to be protected from deportation.
Sen. DURBIN: Your agency arrested 261 DACA holders last year—and deported 86 of them. Why have you deported dozens of DACA holders? Noem: We follow all laws. Durbin: Why did you deport them? Noem: I don’t know the details.
Secretary Noem won’t admit she was wrong. Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and so many other victims of her agents’ use of excessive force are NOT “domestic terrorists.” They’re human beings who were exercising their constitutional rights.
Sen. DURBIN: Your agents shot and killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Two American citizens. While their families struggle with these horrible tragedies, they have had to fight baseless accusations from you, after you falsely claimed they were domestic terrorists.

I’ve seen the unspeakable cruelty of Secretary Noem and the Trump Administration in Chicago and across the country. We’ve all seen it. They are waging a campaign of fear and eroding trust in law enforcement and government. That’s dangerous.
Sen. DURBIN: Madam Secretary, your DHS has operated without any moral compass or respect for rule of law. DHS agents have acted with unspeakable cruelty against children, immigrants, and American citizens.

While there has been bipartisan agreement on halting Iran’s nuclear program, There is no consensus for a war with Iran. The President’s impulsive strikes risk American servicemembers’ lives and endanger our allies.
Happy Casimir Pulaski Day! Casimir made incredible contributions to our young country, sacrificing his life in the Revolutionary War. Today, we honor his memory and generations of rich Polish heritage across America.
Local, state, and federal law enforcement officers have called for an independent investigation into Renee Good’s killing. Kash Patel and Justice Department officials shut that down. Unacceptable.
I introduced a resolution to designate this week as National Social and Emotional Learning Week. As kids are weighed down by significant stress both at school and at home, we must give them the support they need to reach their full potential inside and outside the classroom.
The Trump family is raking in billions from crypto. How? Well, it helps that they removed ALL attorneys from CFTC Enforcement Division in Chicago, which oversees many crypto companies. Corruption. Enriching themselves at your expense.
