House Republicans haven't shown up to work for 40 days. Donald Trump isn't even in the country. They shut down the government, spiraling us toward a health care crisis that will hike your monthly premiums and jeopardize coverage for millions— And then just left.
America is in turmoil from his government shutdown and bracing for higher health care bills— And instead of doing his job and governing for the American people, Trump is halfway across the world threatening American cities with our military.
New York Times: Trump Says He Is Prepared to Send ‘More Than the National Guard’ Into U.S. Cities
NEWS: I’m leading my colleagues in denouncing FCC Chair Carr’s unlawful plan to increase costs on law-abiding Americans who wish to keep in touch with their incarcerated loved ones. Congress passed a law to lower prison phone rates. Carr must do his job and enforce the law.

Example #2: U.S. citizen and Veteran George Retes: “They broke his window, they pepper sprayed him, they grabbed him, threw him on the floor." Mr. Retes was wrongfully jailed for three days by Trump's federal agents. Three days. This is how Trump treats our heroes.
An excerpt of George Retes's story.
The 3 districts facing the highest premium hikes if ACA tax credits expire are all Republican-led districts: WY: +693% WV-01: +654% WV-02: +599% Republicans would rather abandon their constituents than work with us to reopen the government and protect their health care.
The numbers don't lie. More than 8 in 10 Americans are worried about how Republicans letting ACA tax credits expire would affect coverage. But 3 weeks into the shutdown, House Republicans aren’t even here to figure out a solution.
A graphic detailing that an overwhelming majority of Americans are concerned about ACA tax credits expiring.
If alcohol, tobacco and drugs aren’t allowed within 1,000 feet of schools—tear gas shouldn’t be either. We send our kids to school to learn, not receive front row seats to Trump’s extreme enforcement tactics. I’m demanding Trump’s Education Secretary Linda McMahon do something to stop this.
If Republicans get their way and let ACA tax credits expire, 339,000 Americans will lose their jobs next year. Almost half of them will be doctors, nurses and caregivers. They call it policy. We call it cruelty.
My heart breaks for Darren and Cindy Bailey as they face such an unimaginable loss. No parent should ever have to bury their own child. Bryan and I are keeping the entire Bailey family in our thoughts and send our heartfelt condolences.
The son of Republican candidate for governor Darren Bailey, along with two of Bailey’s grandchildren and daughter-in-law, were killed in a helicopter crash in Montana.
NEW: Trump's Big, Beautiful Betrayal includes an $8.8 billion bailout for pharmaceutical companies.   That's right. Premiums are about to go through the roof and 15 million are going to lose their health care—   But Republicans think Big Pharma deserves a golden parachute.
An excerpt of a CBO report detailing the increase of cost in drug prices.
If given the chance, I'd lose my legs all over again to serve in our great military. The leader of your party is a five-time draft dodger who has fired more Veterans than any other president in our history. Square that circle then tell me who really hates our military.
New York Times: Scott Perry Says Democrats ‘Hate the Military,’ Echoing Trump’s attacks.

The remarks by the Republican House member from Pennsylvania align with efforts by the president and G.O.P. leaders to portray the political left as un-American.
Stories that DHS doesn’t want you to hear. Example #1: When U.S. citizen Leonardo Garcia Venegas filmed Trump's agents forcing his brother to the ground, he was roughly detained and handcuffed for over an hour. They aren't going after "the worst of the worst"—they're assaulting citizens.
An excerpt of Garcia Venega’s story.
Whether you live in a red state or blue state, Donald Trump is undermining all Americans’ constitutional rights— And pushing our nation closer and closer to an autocracy. @merkley.senate.gov is holding the floor to sound the alarm. Everyone needs to pay attention.
TUNE IN: I’m STILL on the Senate floor exposing Trump’s attempts to trample on the Constitution. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymDt...
Marimar Martinez in Chicago was *not* armed when Trump’s agents shot her.   When DHS tries to rewrite reality, body cameras expose the truth.   The footage is clear. We will not let Trump cover up his cruelty.
A federal judge again Friday ordered agents in Chicago for immigration operations to wear and turn on their body cameras, telling them "that was not a suggestion."
Trump’s idea of being “tough on crime?” Forcing thousands of DOJ, FBI, DEA, ATF and more of our federal officers to abandon real criminal investigations to back ICE’s reckless operations.   Americans are less safe because of it—and I’m demanding answers.
