I was proud to play a leading role as a state legislator in creating the PA program that became the model for the national Healthy Food Financing Initiative.

May is Jewish American Heritage Month!
This month and every month, let us honor and celebrate the rich heritage and legacy of Jewish Americans in Philadelphia and beyond.
I voted NO on the GOP “Reverse Robin Hood” bill that would kick over 50,000 Philadelphians off #Medicaid, cut SNAP food aid, and cut $500 billion from #Medicare – while it gives another tax cut to the wealthiest! And I’ll KEEP fighting this bad bill!

The ACA reconciliation policies have gotten scant coverage, even though they drive a quarter of coverage losses (before accounting for enhanced subsidy expiration)
But 18 state-based marketplaces just sent a pretty blistering letter to the House about just how bad those policies are

We’ve waited eight years to see the Trump health care plan. Here it is. Massive coverage losses and an even clunkier insurance system.
A look at how the House Republican proposals would cut health coverage:

Great piece that clearly lays out the problem and the stakes. "Republicans are opting for opaque cuts, which will shed millions of eligible beneficiaries by overwhelming them with pointless paperwork and other needlessly complicated administrative requirements."
From @pamherd.bsky.social & I @nytimes.com: How Republicans plan to use administrative burdens to kick eligible people off of Medicaid, all to pay for a regressive tax cut.

I’m horrified by the murder of two Israeli Embassy staffers outside a Jewish museum in Washington. I stand against antisemitism - and with the Jewish community in Philadelphia and nationwide.

turns out the GOP budget bill adds so much to deficits that it will automatically trigger cuts to Medicare (not just Medicaid).
Older voters unlikely to be happy about this when word gets out

Donald Trump gets a $400 MILLION luxury jet from a foreign government.
Millions of regular Americans stand to lose their #Medicaid health coverage so Trump & other millionaires can get ANOTHER tax cut.
Democrats in Congress will keep fighting against that agenda!

House Republicans tried to jam through the GOP Tax Scam in the dark of night – but House Democrats are fighting back to expose and stop this disastrous bill.
@scanlon.house.gov explains why Americans can’t afford these devastating cuts to health care and food assistance.
And @housedemocrats.bsky.social will fight it again in the full House of Representatives!

Last week we fought this bill during an all-night @waysmeanscmte.bsky.social markup that lasted nearly 18 hours.
Today our Rules Democrats colleagues & committee ranking members have been fighting it since 1 AM because Republicans wanted to hide it in the middle of the night.

..the National Head Start Association, and parents, providers and advocates.
Head Start is vital for kids & families served by 60 centers in my district – & for more than 26,000 children served across Pennsylvania!
I was proud to advocate for #HeadStart funding at a DC news conference with @repdean.bsky.social, @childrenfirstpa.bsky.social and...

House Republicans are so ashamed of the GOP Tax Scam that they are planning a 1 AM committee meeting tonight to jam it through Congress.
In today's Democratic Daily Download, @repmcgovern.bsky.social breaks down what's in this ugly bill and what Democrats are doing to stop it.
