After a busy morning in the District, I sat down with #TeamElfreth in our Columbia Office to discuss upcoming community projects, local priorities, constituent casework, and strategies to continue supporting our #MD03 neighbors on their hardest days.
We covered everything from the war in Iran to the work we are doing to lower energy & childcare costs – it truly is a highlight to hear directly from you!
If you weren’t able to join us, we’ll have many more town halls coming up this year – both in person and virtually. Stay tuned for more details!
Thank you to the more than 5,800 neighbors who joined Team Elfreth and me for last night’s telephone town hall! This was my 24th town hall since taking office, and it’s always a privilege to hear from neighbors what issues matter most to you.
This is just part one of answering your questions so stay tuned for more!
You’ve heard me talk about why the SAVE America Act is so bad – even worse than the initial SAVE Act – so I sat down with someone you haven’t heard from who oversees election integrity: Ranking Member of the House Committee on Administration and one of my favorite colleagues, @morelle.house.gov.
Congress must NOT dismantle the Endangered Species Act. In fact, I even had the chance to deliver that message to the Democratic Caucus yesterday on behalf of the House Natural Resources Committee.
Thanks, Leo! Because of your advocacy and the efforts of hundreds of Americans, House Republicans cancelled the vote on this dangerous bill!
But to Georgians, he was a fighter: dedicating year after year to service on the ground to support Georgia farmers, veterans, and families with unwavering perseverance and commitment. My thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and constituents during this difficult time.
To our country, he was a trailblazer: rising from the era of Jim Crow Segregation to become an advocate for our HBCUs and the first African American ever to chair the House Committee on Agriculture.
I'm deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my colleague, Congressman David Scott. For over two decades, Congressman Scott embodied the spirit of public service not just for the residents of Georgia's 13th Congressional District, but for the entire nation.
But whether it’s ordering blue catfish or utilizing public transit, we all have a role to play in protecting our waterways, watersheds, and other natural resources. We only have one Chesapeake Bay & one planet, which is why I’m committed to doing my part here in Congress. Thanks for doing the same!
➡️ Team Maryland has delivered more than $35 million in federal funding to City Dock Annapolis’s flooding resilience efforts to combat rising tides.
➡️ Alongside @alsobrooks.senate.gov, I introduced the Maryland Whole Watershed Program Federal Partnership Act to build on the Whole Watershed Act I led in the State Senate & improve coordination efforts between the federal, state, & local governments for restoration projects across 5 watersheds.
➡️ Rep. Wittman and I worked to pass the MAWS Act bipartisanly on the House floor, getting us one step closer to removing millions of pounds of invasive blue catfish from the Bay and combating the ecological and economic damage they cause to our waterways.
Even in this divisive and chaotic Congress, we’ve secured some real wins for the Bay and our natural treasures:
As Vice Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee, I’ve been laser-focused over the past 16 months on working with anyone and everyone to conserve all of our state’s crown jewels.
Today is Earth Day, a time to celebrate our community's natural treasures and commit to protecting them for generations to come.
We’re only a few minutes away from kicking off our telephone town hall and #TeamElfreth is getting ready with some pizza 🍕 You can still dial in at 833-380-0677 at 6:30 PM or join our livestream at the link below. Hope to hear from you soon!
