Today marks two years since the Respect for Marriage Act was signed into law.
I was proud to vote to pass this legislation to ensure that federal and state governments continue to recognize and respect all marriages—regardless of sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or national origin.

It was an honor to attend the Midwest Asian Health Association's 2024 Gala this past weekend and to thank them for working to expand access to affordable health care for people in all communities.
I hope President Trump thinks long and hard about how his tariffs would affect American consumers. We need economic policies that lower costs—not raise them.
Congratulations to Shushan Arora of Bolingbrook High School, this year's winner of the Congressional App Challenge! Shushan created PrepShield, an app designed to help families prepare for emergencies with important resources and contacts.
Thanks to all who participated!
83 years ago today, 2,300 servicemembers lost their lives at #PearlHarbor. We continue to honor the lives lost that day and commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of those who volunteered to fight for our country in the days that followed.
The Trump administration will inherit one of the strongest job markets on record, and they can keep it that way by continuing to pursue economic policies that put workers and small businesses first.
Our nation is just scratching the surface of what we can do with advancements in science and technology.
This week, I joined the Science & Technology Action Committee to speak about the importance of maintaining robust federal funding for scientific research in the new Congress.
Thanks to Jaylen, Mr. Miller got the medical help he needed and was able to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family--and Jaylen!
Thank you, Jaylen, for being a true hero!
I’m proud to congratulate Jaylen Lockhart, a USPS mail carrier in Aurora, for his heroic actions in helping Guy Miller, a senior citizen who had fallen and injured his head while walking his dog.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Wishing everyone a day full of gratitude and time spent with loved ones.
Not sure Team Trump realizes a 25 percent tariff on Canadian oil imports will go straight into higher gas prices in the Midwest.
Not exactly the platform he campaigned on...
I was proud to help secure nearly $1 million for the Village of Holiday Hills to support its sanitary sewer extension project.
Last week, I got a firsthand look at the construction progress.
Any manufacturer can tell you that the real job creators are customers, and most customers come from the middle class—not from the billionaires who benefit from Republican tax breaks.
Here is Mr. Bessent's challenge:
U.S. Manufacturing Employment has risen under every Democratic President from Roosevelt to Biden, and has fallen under every Republican President from Herbert Hoover to Donald Trump.
I'm a U.S. manufacturer and a scientist, and as the lead Democrat on the House Subcommittee on Banking and Monetary Policy, I wish Scott Bessent well - but he’ll have to come up with something better than the same old Republican supply-side follies and tax cuts for the wealthy.
Always thankful for our local law enforcement officers who work every day to keep us safe.
I’m back in IL-11 tonight for a town hall meeting in Bolingbrook with the National Weather Service to discuss how scientific research is making weather forecasting more efficient and reliable.
It remains important that the Ethics Committee report be released to the American people in case ex-Rep. Gaetz pursues any other position of high public trust. (2/2)
I am relieved that Matt Gaetz won't be the next Attorney General, since anyone holding that position must not be vulnerable to coercion or blackmail.
And, ethical and legal issues aside, it was a position he wasn’t remotely qualified for. (1/2)
Just two Bills on Capitol Hill!
Had a great meeting with Bill Nye today to discuss drug developments to treat Ataxia. #ScienceGuys🧪
