Wishing everyone across #NC04 and the country a happy and safe 4th of July!
Today, as we celebrate our nation's core values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, let us recommit ourselves to ensuring that every person in America can fully enjoy these fundamental rights.
Republicans have made it clear where their priorities lie: with the top 1%—not working Americans or those in need.
Today, I voted against their tax scam which will gut food assistance and healthcare programs, and raise taxes on the lowest-income households in the country.
Read my full statement.
Reminder: Trump and the Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill will devastate health care access for communities across North Carolina.
I’m on the House Floor ready to vote—we just need 4 Republicans to join us to stop it.
@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social has been speaking on the House Floor for over 4 hours in opposition to Trump’s Big, Ugly bill.
I’m proud to stand with him and @housedemocrats.bsky.social as we fight back against the GOP’s reckless budget.

Just took to the House Floor to speak in support of a country where everyone can afford to live the good life.
And in strong opposition to Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill that is devastating to everyday Americans.
We will not be silenced.

I was proud to join my Congressional Black Caucus colleagues to call out how Republicans are targeting Black Americans with their Big, Ugly Bill.
As America faces a Black maternal health crisis, Republicans are stripping away Medicaid benefits. It’s cruel and Black women deserve better.
Today marks 61 years since the Civil Rights Act was signed into law. As we honor this landmark piece of legislation, we know that our fight for true equality continues.
Now more than ever, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring a just and fair society for all.
Republicans are making us wait while they try to find the votes to pass the Big, Ugly Bill.
No problem, I'll wait however long it takes to defeat this bill.
Republicans are openly & willingly pushing for cuts to Medicaid & SNAP—programs that millions of Americans rely on to survive. My colleagues & I asked Republican leadership to consider an amendment which protects against these harmful cuts.
Their response? They refused to even “entertain” the idea.
Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill makes the largest Medicaid cut ever, takes food assistance away from millions of Americans, and still adds to our debt by $4 trillion?
You can’t claim to support hardworking Americans and vote for this bill.
What kind of person votes to cut healthcare coverage? Not @housedemocrats.bsky.social, that’s for sure.
This morning, I stood alongside my Democrat colleagues to make it clear that we are a NO on Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill.
🚨July 14: My office is hosting a Virtual Veterans Resource Fair from 6-7PM! Join us to learn more about housing assistance, educational opportunities, and VA benefits available to veterans directly from local veteran organizations.

The GOP is trying to fund a tax break for billionaires by stripping Americans of their health care.
Everyday, we hear from our constituents about the rising cost of living—and still, Republicans refuse to bring bills to the floor that prioritize hardworking Americans over the ultra-wealthy.
As a member of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I'm celebrating 56 years since #Stonewall.
As Our LGBTQI+ neighbors, friends, and family members are facing increasing hostility from our federal government, we must never forget the spirit of Stonewall and continue fighting for full equality.
I unequivocally condemn these statements & stand with our Muslim American community in the face of these dehumanizing attacks. We cannot stay silent as attempts to normalize anti-Muslim hate continue and we must take tangible steps to root out hate & Islamophobia in all forms across our communities.
The Islamophobic smears coming from members of Congress towards @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social cannot continue. Hate, bigotry, and Islamophobia have no place in our society, and this speech contributes to the growth of political violence we've seen across the nation.
This is an attack on our constitution and communities. This ruling will empower Trump to illegally ban birthright citizenship while limiting our courts' ability to respond.
The 14th amendment is clear that those born in the U.S. are citizens, and I will explore all routes to combat this ruling.
SCOTUS ruling to allows states to disqualify Planned Parenthood from Medicaid programs is an attack on women's care and our freedom of choice.
Alongside the @demwomencaucus.bsky.social, I will fight this ruling which will strip 1M patients of the essential care that Planned Parenthood provides.
During @demwomencaucus.bsky.social Dobbs Anniversary hearing, I shed a light on how the NCGA's 12-week abortion ban is leaving thousands in NC without the care they need.
Our LGBTQ+ community has particularly been affected and it's important that providers help rebuild trust with these patients.
As temperatures continue to rise, leveraging DOE & NOAA research in critical technologies is imperative to predicting & responding to extreme weather events.
I'm introducing the Advanced Weather Model Computing Development Act with Rep. Miller to facilitate collaboration & expand our capabilities.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
