Today I met with Albert Ostering, an #MD05 Veteran whose decade of civil service was abruptly ended by the Trump Administration's mass termination of federal employees.
The Trump Administration's firing of over 1,000 federal employees in the National Parks Service puts further strain on critical operations at national parks across Maryland, which would hinder Americans' ability to access and enjoy these public lands. www.baltimoresun.com/2025/02/24/m...
Trump and Musk have fired nearly 6,000 veterans, who make up about 30% of the federal workforce. This is no way to treat those who serve our country. Democrats will continue working to take care of our Veterans.
Today I joined Democratic Members of the Maryland Congressional Delegation, leaders from federal employee groups, and Rob Shriver and @skyeperryman.bsky.social of @democracyforward.org to highlight efforts to combat the Trump Administration's illegal attacks on the federal workforce.

For 50 years, the Congressional Budget Office has played a critical, nonpartisan role informing Congress on the effectiveness of economic and budget policy. Congratulations to the dedicated staff who’ve ably served its ten directors over the last five decades as they celebrate this anniversary.
Join me in wishing my dear friend Senator Angela Alsobrooks a happy birthday. I am grateful for your principled leadership and your unwavering commitment to Maryland. I look forward to you continuing to serve the people of our state in the years to come.
Tonight’s town hall hosted by Charles County Commissioner BJ Bowling was an important opportunity to engage with Marylanders about the importance of our nation’s federal employees and the vital services they provide.
The NIH contributes to Maryland’s health, safety, and economy by funding new breakthroughs for cures and creates thousands of jobs. I joined the Maryland Democratic Delegation to demand the Trump Administration rescind guidance that would cause deeply damaging cuts. hoyer.house.gov/media/press-...
Wishing a happy birthday to my dear friend & brother John Lewis on what would be his 85th birthday. John was a man of great integrity who lived his life with purpose. Let us honor his legacy today by causing #GoodTrouble & continuing his fight against injustice & strengthening democracy.
Federal workers represent the best of us – they’re non-partisan experts and dedicated employees working to deliver for the American people. I’ll continue to stand up against these egregious, illegal attacks on our federal government employees.
