“Today marks two years since the horrific attacks of October 7, when Hamas brutally murdered, kidnapped, and terrorized innocent people. They were acts that shocked the world. My thoughts are with the families who are still grieving and the hostages who have not been returned home. This anniversary is also a time to recognize the immense suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza, where Netanyahu's ethnic cleansing campaign has taken far too many lives. I continue to call for the protection of innocent lives, for the release of all hostages, and for a lasting peace that ensures safety, dignity, and self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians.”

This week, my staff & I were finally able to complete an oversight visit at ICE's Eugene Field Office. Read more about the conditions here & at the statement on my website linked below. My office is here to be a resource & we can help with any ICE related issues or questions.

“In short, this is a processing facility with basic resources including water, a restroom for detainees and air conditioning. Detainees are split into two rooms, male and female.

"Officials told me that, on average, detainees at the Eugene Field Office are there for four hours but up to a maximum of twelve. I was also told that people who are processed through this facility are sent to the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Washington.

“I am adamant that every member of our community knows their rights and knows that everyone in this country is entitled to due process as provided for in our Constitution. If you want more information on your rights, please view the ‘Know Your Rights’ page on our website or contact our office.

“In the coming months, I plan to visit the facility in Tacoma to inspect the facility and the conditions there.”
