I proudly vote no.
This fight is not over. I will not stop fighting until we ensure that no working person in this country dies or goes hungry to subsidize the lives of the wealthiest Americans.

'No tax on tips' is just a Republican talking point — here's why.
(with @repvalhoyle.bsky.social)
We're still here.
As Leader Jeffries said, leadership requires conviction & compassion & what we’ve seen is chaos, cruelty & corruption.
I will not stop fighting until we ensure that no working person in this country dies or goes hungry to subsidize the lives of the wealthiest Americans.

My latest: Gov. @tinakotek.bsky.social, @repvalhoyle.bsky.social and other Oregon lawmakers warn of cuts to Medicaid, SNAP if Trump-backed bill passes lookouteugene-springfield.com/story/govern...
While we rightfully focus on Medicaid & SNAP cuts, this bill also gives Homeland Security & ICE over $160 BILLION.
For context: that's a larger budget than every single MILITARY in the world, except for the U.S.'s & China's.
All as they keep violating due process & refuse to answer to the people.

Oregon’s Congressional Democrats are here to fight the Big Bad Ugly Bill that Republicans are trying to push through in a rush to appease Donald Trump.
Tonight, I offered 4 common sense amendments to Republicans' Big, Brutal Bill.
In my final remarks I made one thing clear: I know you'll pass your damn bill if you want to, but stop coopting the struggles of working people to sell them a bill that will screw them & their futures.

McGovern: "A family making less than $50,000 a year? They get less than $1 a day in tax cuts. You can't buy a damn cup of coffee with that. But those making a million dollars or more? They'll get more than $250 a day in tax breaks ... that's how rigged this bill is to benefit the wealthy."
My office has been receiving so many calls today about the Big, Brutal Bill so I hopped on the phones to help out. Please keep calling: your stories and concerns help us illustrate just how bad AND unpopular this bill is.
And who knows, I might even pick up your call.
After the House first passed the Big, Brutal Bill, my Republican colleagues said they hadn't even read what they voted on.
Today, I joined @repyassansari.bsky.social & my Democratic colleagues to read the entire bill aloud — so this time they won't be able to hide behind that same, pathetic excuse.
From the most progressive to the most conservative parts of my district I've heard the same things: no one wants rural hospitals to close, SNAP benefits to be cut, & energy prices to go up. But that's exactly what Republicans are about to do.
Why? So their wealthy donors can get ANOTHER tax break.

I just gave Republicans a chance to backtrack on the $1 TRILLION cuts to Medicaid in their budget bill. Every single one of them doubled down on their plans to deny their constituents life-saving health care and voted no.
You cannot overstate the cruelty of forcing through over $1 TRILLION of healthcare cuts in the DEAD OF NIGHT just to pay for tax breaks for the top 0.1% of earners.
Look, I got nothing against being wealthy. What I'm against is literally letting working folks die so the rich can get even richer.

🚨 BREAKING: New CBO score reveals GOP Senate bill slashes $930 BILLION from Medicaid — the largest cut in history.
That means 10M+ could lose coverage.
💸 Earlier GOP plan: $700B
📉 New plan: $930B
This is a full-scale attack on America’s most vulnerable. #KillTheBill

Republicans may lie about what's in their budget bill but the numbers sure don't.

Call your gramma. Call your neighbor. Call your friends. Call your rep.
Republicans Big Ugly Bill now includes a $1 TRILLION cut to Medicaid.
Just when you think they can’t get any more cruel.
