Republicans want to add more red-tape to Medicaid. In 2024, Georgia did the same with their state Medicaid program. They spent $86 MILLION just administering these requirements. And worse, only 7,000 out of 345,000 eligible people were able to enroll in the program. What happened to efficiency?
My GOP colleagues claim to stand with first responders and on 9/11 are all over social media with #NeverForget. What firefighters will never forget is the deafening silence and pathetic inaction when it comes to preserving the programs at NIOSH that save their lives. That is what we’ll #NeverForget.
Seniors built this country and many of them built their retirements expecting Social Security to be there when it was their turn. Pulling the rug out from under them isn’t just wrong, it’s cruel. For our seniors and for future generations, we must #SaveSocialSecurity #RetireWithDignity
I was happy to speak at the Portland Metro Chamber's annual D.C. meetings today.   This admin's chaotic tariff policies make it even more important that we work closely with our private sector to help provide the stability workers and businesses need to continue growing right here in Oregon.

I was a Pell Grant & TRIO student. I have dyslexia & special ed helped me graduate. As Republicans continue to find ways to pay for their tax cuts for the rich, they're cutting the programs that help everyday Americans. We need to expand access & find ways to make higher ed an option for all.
Thanks for having me @iamunion.bsky.social!   This year's conference comes at a time when unions are under attack. But as union members we've seen this old, tired playbook before. And we know how to fight back and WIN. #unionstrong
On #InternationalWorkersDay, we honor the dignity of work & remember the sacrifices that made by those who came before us. Workplace rights & protections were won through the labor movement which is why they want to tear it down. But when you come for one of us, you take on all of us. #UnionProud
Today I joined my @usprogressives.bsky.social colleagues to speak out against President Trump's illegal deportations.  In the United States, justice happens in a court room, in front of a judge, with facts and evidence. That’s the standard – and it should apply to everyone.
America’s unions are hitting the streets tomorrow for #MayDay, the day the world celebrates the bravery of workers throughout history who have sacrificed for safety, dignity and justice on the job. Join the fight for a better future for workers:
50% of jobs need more than a high school diploma but less than a college degree. Apprenticeships let people earn while they learn, avoid mountains of debt & fill our workforce needs. I’ll keep fighting to expand access to these opportunities. #NationalApprenticeshipDay
ICYMI: Despite slashing govt programs we rely on, crashing markets, and threatening Social Security and Medicare, Elon Musk & this admin have spent $220 BILLION MORE this year than Democrats did at this same point last year. BTW, that's also before they gave the Pentagon ANOTHER $150 BILLION.
Across these first 100 days, working people have faced relentless attacks. Every step of the way, the labor movement has pushed back — standing up for workers’ rights, organizing for better jobs, and fighting for the promise of real opportunity for all.
This is a generational moment. Every time labor has been knocked down, we get back up stronger than before. Throughout the first 100 days of the Trump admin, America’s unions have been relentlessly fighting back against the billionaire takeover, and we’re winning.
100 days into this administration and working people are still getting left behind. Our costs are up, our services are gutted and our rights are under attack. We need a gov that works for us—not just the wealthy. Every American deserves a fair shot and a voice that counts, and I’m not backing down.
"Together on this Workers’ Memorial Day, let us ensure that our members who lost their lives due to unsafe workplaces have not died in vain." @shawnfainuaw.bsky.social
On Workers Memorial Day, we remember those who have tragically died on the job and reflect on the state of safety and health protections in our country. A safe workplace is a fundamental right, and we’ll keep fighting until that’s a reality for EVERY worker.
There were 5,283 workplace fatalities and 135,304 who died from occupational disease in 2023, but the Trump admin and their DOGE are putting all workers at greater risk by enacting policies that create dangerous working conditions.
