We should focus on the best interest of the American people but Speaker Johnson won’t bring that bill to the floor. It’s time to do our job and vote to pay these workers.

The Senate UNANIMOUSLY passed a bill to fund DHS other than for ICE and CBP. If the House puts forward anything other than the Senate bill, federal workers won’t get paid.

This year’s historically warm winter in the Pacific Northwest means less snowfall, worse drought conditions, and an increased wildfire risk.

2/ This is not the time to leave such important work undone.
I am ready to fund DHS minus ICE and CBP. We should stay in DC and do our damn jobs until that is done. But Speaker Mike Johnson would rather point fingers than lead.
Republicans control both chambers of Congress and could end the shutdown tomorrow if they had the will. Instead we're voting on inane resolutions saying how much we support DHS. The Speaker should not send anyone home before we make a deal to fund the government. That means working with Democrats.
Our community does not need an out of state medical group taking over PeaceHealth. We’ll stick with our local ER docs.
As part of a group of water bills, my bill, the Columbia River Clean-Up Act, passed the House. This bill makes sure we can keep getting funding to improve water quality throughout the Northwest, which protects our health and our salmon.

This directs the FAA to help prevent drones that get in the way of fighting wildfires. Last year, firefighters lost 26 minutes responding to the Flat Fire in Central Oregon. Why? A drone flew where it didn't belong.
Lane County just launched Oregon’s first ever bus operator apprenticeship program with its recent eight graduates. High quality programs like this one build the workforce we need👏

Yesterday I stopped by the League of Oregon Cities delegation meeting to hear from our local governments and youth councils about what their cities need and how I can advocate for them in Congress.
I will not vote to fund parts of DHS that are doing blatantly unconstitutional things.
Today I signed onto @delauro.house.gov's discharge petition so that the branches of DHS like FEMA, TSA and the Coast Guard, which are critical to safety along the Oregon coast and disaster relief in this country, are paid for their essential work.
