Here's the thing, and I say this without anger: I am not a public utility or service provider. I'm a guy who writes things and posts other things. You either do or do not follow me; either way, it costs you nothing. And posts are short. So no, I am not going to add "Warning: Paywall" every time. >

Imagine driving to the theater thinking that movies are free!
I do, but they're not infinite, so I decide on gift links case by case.
To the people here who bark "Paywall!" at me when I post a link to something: Yeah. I'm aware.
People who violate your "shared values" do not share your values.
Previous post deleted because I didn’t quite believe it once I wrote it.
It's also important to remember that if Lindsey Graham had had the courage to come out as a gay man, he would still have been every bit the terrible person he ended up being and probably would have cheerfully voted against our interests. I would gently warn against discussing it as the key to him.
People deserve to be remembered for who they were. Lindsey Graham tried on many different skins and ultimately settled on the very worst version of himself. There were, at one point, a few shreds of something you could call principles--not many, but they existed. There were none at the end.
I love this. The NYT's response to having their reporters subpoenaed is a piece portraying a frantic Kash Patel doing an irate Trump's bidding that at once humiliates both men and makes clear that this White House will never, ever, ever be able to plug the leaks. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/11/u...
It happens to all of us!
[Raises hand politely, clears throat]: Gay men actually count as men.
My 15-months-younger brother and I could not have had more mismatched taste in TV when we were kids. He was Star Trek and Mission: Impossible. I was Bewitched and Mary Tyler Moore. Emergency! was where we intersected. Apparently for different reasons.
Some of you might think I'm capable of embarrassment. All I can say in response is, I owned this.
RIP. An early-'70s crush with one of the all-time great names in TV. And yes, it was real. His actual name was Randy Mantooth, which is...just...impossible.
I wonder if he ever got my fan letter. www.tvinsider.com/1274911/rand...
Seems clear that there's a deal that Trump can scream about not signing the housing bill until SAVE America is passed but will let it become law tomorrow. Also seems clear that if anyone makes Grandpa too mad today, he'll veto it and screw the deal. This is our government now: Don't poke the loony.
In loving memory of Bonnie Tyler, please enjoy this video of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" from the early, let's-make-this-as-homoerotic-as-possible-simply-because-we-can era of MTV. I was 19 when this went into heavy rotation. It made an impression! www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcOx...
