Earlier on CNN, I talked about the feedback that I heard from my constituents at our town hall last night. Right now, people across my district AND the country are frustrated that no one has put an end to Trump’s disastrous decisions. I hear you and @housedemocrats.bsky.social hear you.

Last night, I joined @rolandsmartin on his show Unfiltered to discuss the state of our democracy and the power of facing constituents through town halls. Tonight, I’m hosting a town hall for those affected in my district. House Democrats are not afraid of pointing out that these cuts hurt Americans.
Medicaid saves lives. But Republicans are pushing a nearly $1 trillion Medicaid cut that will force millions of Americans off their health care. I am fighting back to save Medicaid and protect Americans.

A little over a week ago, one of my constituents from Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District became a former employee of USAID after 15 years of service. He, like many other federal workers are experiencing unnecessary upheaval. Learn more about his story below.
I was saddened to hear of the passing of female congressional trailblazer Nita Lowey, former chair of the House Appropriations committee & first woman to serve in its seat. Lowey was a champion for women’s rights & health care reform. Rest in Power.

On Friday, I joined my colleagues of the Maryland Delegation to release a statement regarding the future of the FBI headquarters. The new headquarters should be the best site and offer the lowest price and value to taxpayers. Read more on our statement below.

Civil Rights movements have a long history of protesting the government through non-violent means. Right now, we are witnessing impacted communities, such as members of AFGE employ these same tactics to stand up to the Trump Administration.
I am saddened to hear that the Trump administration has cut $800 million of federal grant money allocated to Johns Hopkins University. This will not only affect Maryland, but thousands of people worldwide who depend on Johns Hopkins’s research as one of the highest-accredited medical institutions.
Next week, Tuesday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. my office will be hosting an in-person town hall at Suitland High School Auditorium (5200 Silver Hill Road, Forestville, MD 20747). Join us to discuss the latest updates on Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District.

The budget plan proposed by House Republicans does not serve working class Americans. In Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District, this plan impacts families with children, and our most vulnerable populations, including seniors, who rely on Medicaid. View the snapshot below for more.
This is a great development and a win for democracy. We will not stop fighting to protect our federal workers against the illegal actions of Trump and unelected billionaires.

It is crucial to the future of the American people that the upcoming spending agreement is bipartisan. Congress must continue to work together on a bipartisan bill to protect programs critical to our communities across the country. Read my statement below. ⬇️
My district is home to thousands of federal employees, who have been affected by the illegal cuts that the Trump administration has made to the federal workforce.
I will continue to advocate for federal workers’ rights. This is why we have to #pushback.
The House Republican budget is an absolute rip-off on MD-04. This budget is a direct attack on the American people and my district. House Democrats urge the Senate to block this budget from being passed. Read more below ⬇️
Secretary McMahon’s misguided decision to cut thousands of employees causes:
🏫Local schools to close their doors
⚠️Massive delays in student aid processing & support
🛑 Undermines civil rights and sexual harassment protections
📉 Less support for students with disabilities

I cannot in good conscience support the House Republicans’ partisan Continuing Resolution, which will further empower Trump & Musk to take a chainsaw to the federal workforce and critical government services, as well as set the stage for massive tax cuts for billionaires.
Today, I vote no on the CR as proposed by the House Republicans. It omits so much of what government is supposed to be about – serving the American people. I will continue to stand up for the Constitution and for our separation of powers.
My Maryland colleagues and I are fighting back against the Trump Administration to get critical funds released that will assist refugees in my district and throughout our state. These grants were already awarded. The State Department must release them immediately.
Universities decide curriculum, not politically motivated prosecutors. I commend Georgetown for pushing back on the unconstitutional and inappropriate actions.

The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia plays a critically important role in federal prosecutions & local prosecutions. Ed Martin is more interested in politics than upholding the rule of law. @sethmagaziner.bsky.social & I agree his nomination must be rejected.
