In an effort to restore independence to the nation’s highest court, I am proud to reintroduce the Supreme Court Tenure Establishment and Retirement Modernization (TERM) Act, which would establish term limits for Supreme Court justices and a regularized appointments process.
I’m saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and colleague, Rep. Gerry Connolly, who fought the good fight in every endeavor. My sincere condolences to Gerry’s family, friends and staff.
You can tune in here to watch the Rules Committee meeting. I think it may be worth watching since House Republicans tried to sneak it in during the middle of the night.

This committee meeting is ongoing, and I am waiting to testify on my amendment. Stay tuned for more updates.
This tax scam would not only cut Medicaid and take health care away from nearly 14 million Americans, but now new estimates show that it could take school meals from more than 18 million kids.
House Republicans started the Rules committee meeting at 1AM this morning. Why are they meeting in the dead of night? Because they know just as well as we do that this legislation is deeply unpopular with the American people.
I was proud to stand with my colleagues today in support of
@replamonica.bsky.social. This is an effort to stop House Democrats from conducting oversight and it will not succeed.
The Trump Administration has weaponized justice using the Department of Injustice to carry forward an assault on liberty. In threatening @replamonica.bsky.social they threaten all of us. No one is safe once you can be targeted just for asking questions.

I just joined my CPC, CBC & @demwomencaucus.bsky.social colleagues to stand in firm support of @replamonica.bsky.social , who is being prosecuted for doing her job as a Member of Congress and touring an ICE detention facility. We will fight this prosecution, and we will win.

Proud to work with @whitehouse.senate.gov to re-introduce the SCERT Act during this critical point in the history of our judiciary.
With great power comes great responsibility. A more ethical SCOTUS creates a more just America. Congress must act to preserve the impartiality and integrity of the judiciary by passing the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal and Transparency Act now.
The highest court in the land should not have the lowest ethical standards. I am proud to reintroduce the SCERT Act today with my friend and Senate counterpart, @whitehouse.senate.gov. We have the best court that money can buy, but we deserve a Supreme Court that can't be bought.
One of Trump’s personal attorneys, who he appointed to be interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, has wielded her authority to charge a sitting Congresswoman, who was roughed up by armed, mask-wearing ICE agents. Justice will correct this blatant abuse of power & I stand with @replamonica.bsky.social.
Thank you to my friend @booker.senate.gov for holding a great event centered around advancing reparative justice in our lifetime. I was honored to speak to this group of advocates and legislators, and to highlight two pieces of my legislation, the RAP Act and the Tulsa Claims Accountability Act.
Last week, I received the Distinguished Service Award at the National Urban League's Empowerment Summit. Thank you for the great honor and for your many years of support, @naturbanleague.bsky.social, and thank you to the Congressional Black Caucus for your deep friendships.
Mereda and I are saddened to hear of President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. We are keeping him and the rest of the Biden family in our thoughts and prayers. President Biden has always been a fighter and we wish him a full and healthy recovery.
I am proud to re-introduce the Stronger Communities Through Better Transit Act. Transit in our communities is as essential as food on our tables & clothes on our backs. It would:
🚌 $20B annually for public transit
🚌 Boosts operating budgets
🚌 More buses & trains
🚌 Helps underserved communities
In a matter of months, roughly 2,000 employees were pushed out of the FAA under Co-President Musk and DOGE. Workers were left unsure whether silence meant resignation, all in the name of efficiency. That’s like gutting your fire department during wildfire season and calling it innovation. (2/2)
