I am here in DC with House Democrats. We are working to reopen the government and protect the healthcare of millions of Americans while Republicans are on vacation.
The Trump admin's incompetence and assault on the CDC and its public health professionals are putting the American public in grave danger. Firing 1300 workers only to rehire 700 a day later. We must follow science, not conspiracy theories. I stand with our brave public servants.
On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize the resilience of Indigenous Peoples and the injustices they’ve experienced throughout history. I stand with our Native communities today and always in their continued fight for justice.
I was honored to speak at the Human Rights Campaign Atlanta Pride Brunch today. Together, we are rooted in resistance. Happy Pride, Atlanta!
I never thought that I would live in a country where its leader publicly ordered someone to be prosecuted, and the Department of Justice would act as ordered. These are chilling times in America, but we must not give in to fear. We must resist!
(2) they expect the same from the Members of Congress who represent them. @ossoff.senate.gov, @warnock.senate.gov, @bishop.house.gov, Congressman David Scott (GA-13), @mcbath.house.gov, @repnikema.bsky.social
(1) We urge Mike Johnson to call House GOP back to Washington immediately to engage in good-faith bipartisan efforts to address these issues. Our constituents get up each morning and come to work. With Georgians’ health care on the line and government funding expired,
Congressman Hank Johnson's Statement on the Anniversary of the October 7th Attack.
It shouldn’t be a radical idea that in the wealthiest country in the world, everyone deserves life-saving emergency care in a hospital—whether they’re visiting, immigrated here, or were born here. But in Trump’s America, we’re forced to say it out loud.
It’s shameful that the Global Sumud Flotilla has been intercepted by Israel on its way to Gaza. Blocking aid in the midst of a famine caused by this endless war will only lead to even more lives lost.
End the blockade.
End the genocide.
Release the hostages.
End this war NOW.
I’ll just leave this here.
Donald Trump and Republicans have shut down the federal government, but my office is open and working for the American people.
There’s no one tougher, smarter, or more caring than @jayapal.house.gov. An AZ Republican’s call for political violence against her is disgraceful and beneath the offices we serve. We must set an example for others to follow. Republicans must stop this dangerous rhetoric immediately.
Republicans controlled the White House, Senate, House of Representatives all year. They knew they needed Democrats to avert a shutdown. Not once did they try and work with Democrats to do that. Now with one day left, this shutdown is on Democrats? They think you’re stupid.
Mereda and I are saddened to hear about the passing of our friend, Judge and former State Senator, Ronald Ramsey. Our prayers and condolences go out to his wife, Doris, and his loved ones during this difficult time.
Wishing you and your loved ones in GA-04 and beyond a happy and healthy New Year! Shanah Tovah U'metukah!
I have a right to freedom of speech, and I exercised that right today by voting no on a resolution that would honor a man who didn’t believe I deserved a seat at his table. It’s our table. We all have a right to be there.
If you can’t exercise your First Amendment right in this country, is it still a democracy?
