NEW POD: I sat down with the Executive Director of the ACLU of Louisiana, Alanah Odoms, to discuss Louisiana v. Callais, the impact of the gutting of the Voting Rights Act, and how we move forward. Watch at the link in my story or listen wherever you get your podcasts.
Trump’s racist rhetoric targeting Indian and Chinese Americans and immigrants is unacceptable. This is all to distract from Republicans’ failure to help Americans who cannot afford gas or groceries. Co-leading legislation to condemn this disgusting language.
Rep. Jayapal speaking into a microphone. In the top right corner are two circles featuring a page of Trump's racist rant and a small image of Trump. The text on the image reads: "Jayapal, Krishnamoorthi, Lieu introduce legislation to condemn Trump’s racist attack on Chinese & Indian Americans."
Today, we were supposed to vote on a War Powers Resolution to end Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Republican leadership cancelled that vote because they knew we’d win. It’s shameful. Keep up the pressure — and we will pass this when the House comes back.
Republicans just called off the vote on a War Powers Resolution because they were afraid it would pass and Trump’s war of choice in Iran would be ended. This is absolutely ridiculous and a failure of leadership from the Republican Party.
As members of our community mourn the killing of Kai Sorem by Philippine forces, the US govt. must ensure a credible & independent investigation is conducted. I await the initial report from the Philippine Commission on Human Rights & will work to ensure there is accountability for any wrongdoing.
Today, Republicans are again targeting trans kids with a bill that would require public schools to forcibly out students who want to use certain pronouns or accommodations, even if it would put them in danger. I'm a hell no. Trans kids deserve better.
13 U.S. servicemembers killed, at least $29 billion of taxpayer money wasted, gas prices skyrocketed, and thousands of civilians in danger. Trump’s illegal war in Iran has now lasted 81 days. Congress must end this now.
Republicans held a hearing on the Southern Poverty Law Center and “manufacturing hate.” The reality is that the Trump administration is targeting SPLC for its work against white nationalism & extreme right-wing ideas. If we want to talk about hate, let’s look at Trump first.
Nancy Mace’s legislation to ban naturalized citizens from government service is hateful, it is insulting to our country’s history, and it is rooted in racism. I call on all my colleagues — including my Republican colleagues who are naturalized citizens — to condemn this.
Jayapal Statement on Hateful Mace Legislation to Ban Naturalized Citizens from Government Service
Orlin was a little boy who was killed after his mother was deported without him, despite her desperate pleas to take him with her. Thanks to Trump’s mass deportation agenda, every single community has a Wendy and an Orlin.
Wendy Hernandez Reyes. Aliya Rahman. Nasra Ahmed. Destiny Jackson. Marimar Martinez. Renee Nicole Good. These are just some of the women who personally know or have experienced ICE and CBP's cruelty. Not another cent.
