So great to meet with new @uofwa.bsky.social President Robert J. Jones and welcome him to Seattle.
I look forward to working with him to preserve the essential federal funding that ensures UW remains a top place for research, innovation, students, and faculty from all over the world.
We are living in an unprecedented moment.
Donald Trump, an authoritarian leader, has deployed federal troops to the streets of DC and is threatening other cities.
But we, the people, will fight back against this fascism.
Trump’s tariffs are costing the typical American household $2,400 per year.
Gas, groceries, health care, and housing are all getting more expensive. We need policies that lower costs and help working people, not billionaire tax cuts and #Trumpflation.
I joined students at my alma mater @georgetownuni.bsky.social this morning in a walkout to protest Trump’s authoritarian DC takeover.
We will not bow down to a wannabe dictator. We will not accept troops in our streets, kidnapping Americans and violating our freedoms.
We will fight. Free DC.
Trump’s tariffs aren’t helping U.S. manufacturing — they’re crushing it.
Factories are being forced to spend more on materials, then passing those costs onto consumers.
We’re losing manufacturing jobs & seeing prices go up, all for nothing. www.bbc.com/news/article...
Republicans just blocked a vote on my bipartisan amendment to the Pentagon budget to repeal the unfunded priorities list. These are "wish lists" from that increase already outrageous defense spending.
We should be investing in American families, not a wasteful Pentagon budget.
SCOTUS just allowed Trump’s DHS to continue targeting people based on their race, saying that speaking Spanish or looking Latino is enough to be stopped by law enforcement.
It’s a violation of our freedoms that gives Trump more authoritarian power. My full statement:
BREAKING: @oversightdemocrats.house.gov just made Trump's birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein public.
Trump claimed this letter, talking about "wonderful secrets" with his signature at the bottom, didn't exist. But it does.
What else is Trump hiding? Release the files.
Members of Congress should not be trading stocks, period.
It’s past time to ban this practice and hold people accountable, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with our bipartisan Restore Trust in Congress Act.
Happy birthday, @sanders.senate.gov! I know you don’t like to celebrate your birthday 😊 but we sure do! Thanks for all you are doing to take back our democracy from the billionaires so that working people can build a decent life!
Donald Trump’s insistence that the Epstein files are a “hoax” is both insulting and shows that he is hiding something.
This entire thing, from Trump down to 99% of Congressional Republicans, smells like a cover-up.
Release the damn files.
ICYMI: Alongside a bipartisan group of House members, I introduced legislation to ban members of Congress from trading stock.
Americans should know that we’re working in their interests, not our own. We need to restore trust in Congress. Let’s get this done. www.cnbc.com/2025/09/03/b...
Trump’s government is one that arrests a student for writing an op-ed, restricts the speech of the country’s visitors, and detains journalists for covering protests.
That doesn’t sound like free speech in a democracy. It sounds like a dictatorship.
Good. The COVID vaccine is safe and effective, yet RFK Jr. and Trump are pushing anti-science conspiracy theories.
Glad to see my state stepping up and keeping our residents healthy. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
We are on the brink of a constitutional crisis — partially because we have a Supreme Court that keeps letting Trump overstep his authority.
They are taking away power from lower courts, centralizing it at the highest level, and then handing it to a wannabe dictator.
ICYMI: Google will be allowed to remain a monopoly — a huge loss for competition, small businesses, and consumers.
This court decision was a slap on the wrist. I’ll keep fighting in Congress for stronger reforms to protect Americans and their interests. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
After meeting with the incredibly courageous survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse, what we need is clear:
A full and complete understanding of EVERYONE who was involved.
Democrat, Republican, rich, poor, politician, CEO — it doesn’t matter. These women deserve justice.
Donald Trump is making your electric bills more expensive by slashing clean energy projects (and jobs) and letting his Big Oil billionaire buddies do whatever they want.
Trump promised to go after the "worst of the worst."
Yet his ICE is targeting everyday people, many of whom have legal status or are hardworking members of our communities. And these raids often sweep up U.S. citizens in the process.
It has to end.

NEW POD: I talked w/ my good friend @rowefinkbeiner.bsky.social of @momsrising.org about Trump’s attacks on working families, the most important policies we need to fight for, and how we can improve our resistance.
