Veterans who served our country shouldn't have to choose between rent, groceries and healthcare. The new GOP Bailout Bonanza for Billionaires takes food off their plates while gutting healthcare access for them and their families. Our veterans, their spouses, kids and survivors deserve so much more.
Lake Erie is our LIFE SOURCE—we survive and thrive because of its freshwater. It doesn’t belong to any of us—is held in trust between the US and Canada for all. When I was first elected there were only 2 nesting Bald Eagles left on Lake Erie—now thanks to our conservation efforts there are HUNDREDS.

Walbridge Park is the last place my mom & I were able to have an outing together as she battled Alzheimer's disease, after a trip to the world-class Toledo Zoo. I miss her terribly today & think about how she used to lift me to a window of our house when I was little so I could see the fireworks.
Enjoyed the annual #4thofJuly Party at Walbridge Park. Great tasting various summer pies, talking with service members, listening to the Jazz band, and spending time with families from across our community. Wishing all a happy and safe holiday weekend!

This Independence Day, as you fire up the grill, remember that union-made goods support jobs right here in NW Ohio and across America. From hot dogs to charcoal, choose products that support our workers.   Enjoy your BBQs, stay safe, and Happy 4th of July!

Once again we are here in the dead of night, to debate and vote on Republicans’ bill that takes food and health care from those who need them to shower tax cuts on billionaires. Given a short time to talk, I used it to cast our moral choice in terms my Republican colleagues in the room would hear.
After 4:00 am we are still fighting to stop this Big Bonanza Bill for Billionaires. It makes life harder for the people of NW Ohio while ceding our glass industry and forfeiting America's lead in solar energy to China. Congress can create a brighter future for America by defeating this bloated bill.
I updated you as the sun came up and I headed to DC. Now it is after midnight and we are still fighting to turn back the Billionaire Bonanza and prevent rural hospital closures, 17 million losing health care, over $3 Trillion added to the debt, and construction job losses across NW Ohio.
If this is true, then Mr. Colby, who opposed military assistance to Ukraine and even refused to acknowledge that Russia’s actions amounted to an “invasion” of Ukraine in his confirmation hearing, is taking action that will surely result in the imminent death of many Ukrainian military and civilians.
US made air defense systems, including the Patriot platform, are the centerpiece of Ukraine’s defenses against Russian strikes. They work. They save lives every day. But there are no parallel defensive alternatives for Ukraine if the US stops supplying these vital munitions.
This halt comes just days after the single largest indiscriminate barrage against Ukraine by Russia in which Putin launched over 500 drones and missiles against its cities. Russia only continues to escalate its devastating strikes.
This morning, @HouseDemocrats.bsky.social are standing united to stop this Big Ugly Bill. It rips health care away from more than 17 million across America, while killing millions of good paying construction jobs. We are standing up for Americans, the House GOP are standing up for Billionaires.
On my way to Washington where this week the House takes up the bill the Senate completed which delivers an immoral transfer of wealth from the middle class and poor to Billionaires. I will not support taking health care from 17 million of Americans while killing construction jobs in the Great Lakes.
On National Postal Workers' Day we honor the dedicated workers of the USPS—heroes who deliver our essentials with care and commitment through heat, rain, and snow. As a former letter carrier, I’ve never lost faith in those who play such a vital role in our lives. We must protect this public service!
Caught up with these hardworking Operating Engineers who are helping to rebuild the heart of Toledo — even in this heat. Thanks to NW Ohio’s Building Trades for exemplifying the best that is in all of us and getting the job done!
Today we honor the founding of the National Organization for Women in 1966. Shaped by this movement we stand on the shoulders of pioneers like Betty Friedan, Pauli Murray and Toledo’s own Gloria Steinem. Their vocation to justice, dignity and equality lights our path forward still today.

If you want to understand just a few of the provisions in this bill that explicitly hurt low income Americans to help the super wealthy, read this letter to the editor from our representative. Thank you @repmarcykaptur.bsky.social for being loud about how this will hurt all of us. #ohiodems #DNC
The Big Ugly Bill kills clean energy tax credits AND adds new taxes on solar and wind construction! As electricity demand booms with heatwaves, AI, and data centers, the GOP is abandoning an all of the above energy solution — and big industry in NW Ohio. Bad for jobs, and worse for our energy bills!
