Last night I announced the winners of the 9th Congressional District Congressional App Challenge for 2024. We hosted a reception at the National Museum of the Great Lakes to celebrate the accomplishment of all who competed. #HouseofCode
Happy Birthday to the National Guard. Grateful for the brave men and women of the Ohio National Guard, especially the 180th Fighter Wing. Your service and dedication inspire us all — thank you for keeping our skies safe!
Tonight we will come together back home to honor a man whose steadfast leadership, has left an indelible mark on NW Ohio — Mayor Craig A. Stough of the thriving City of Sylvania, Ohio. Today I paid tribute to his decades of service on the floor of the House of Representatives.
The House passed the National Defense Authorization Act, continuing a bipartisan tradition to keep partisan politics out of America's national security decisions. The bill includes a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted service members, and 4.5% increase for all others.
Leadership from AGLPA and Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. visited to discuss ways we can increase interlake trade across Lake Erie and throughout our Great Lakes region. It is vital to build upon existing trade relationships with Canada, our largest international trading partner.
Sunday, a new day dawned in Syria. The world saw stunning images of Liberty emerge as Syria was freed from a 55 year Assad regime, turned dictatorship. Russia, Iran, North Korea, and China's Spiderweb of Tyranny has been weakened as a result of the fall of Assad.
What a joy to attend the University of Toledo Department of Music’s Holiday Showcase this weekend. Thanks to all involved for a jolly and festive evening as we approach the heart of the Holiday Season.
Today the Spiderweb of Tyranny has been weakened as we see stunning images of Liberty across Syria after the fall of dictator Bashar al-Assad. The days ahead are uncertain, but the Syrian people deserve a chance to rebuild a free nation of their choosing after decades of turmoil.
Morning has broken in a free Damascus, the world's oldest continuously inhabited capital. Assad is now the ex-president, the sitting Prime Minister has addressed the nation and will hand over power to the political opposition to lead the transitional government. Hope is in the air.
Today, 83 years after the attack on Pearl Harbor we honor the memory of 2,400+ American lives lost on that harrowing day. We honor the enormous courage of those who ran headfirst into the fire and chaos to defend our homeland. All of their sacrifice must never be forgotten. @wwiimemorial.bsky.social
Today I celebrated a cherished, and inspiring tradition that bridges history, culture, and community. The enduring role of the Town Crier. In Northwest Ohio, Sylvania’s Michael Lieber has embodied this vibrant legacy with distinction and flair for nearly three decades.
I hail from the manufacturing Heart of America, at the Ohio-Michigan border. Future generations across our industrial heartland and nation depend on restoring and reshoring American ownership of our auto industry, because What America makes and builds, makes and builds America.
On #NationalWildlifeConservationDay, celebrating $2.4 Million in National Fish and Wildlife Foundation awards for Toledo and Sandusky Bay. Together, we’re restoring wetlands, protecting habitats, and strengthening coastal resilience for future generations. Let’s keep fighting for our Great Lakes!
Exciting news! With the National Science Foundation’s support, the University of Toledo is leading groundbreaking research in geometry and topology! This $40K award will foster global collaboration and advance important innovations from right here in NW Ohio.
Today, on what would’ve been my dear friend Shirley Chisholm’s 100th birthday, we honor her life and legacy. When there were few women in Congress, she stood with me during my first run for office. Shirley was a trailblazer who broke barriers, inspiring generations to follow.
Small businesses are the heart of our communities and the backbone of our economy. On this #SmallBusinessSaturday I encourage everyone to shop local, support our neighbors, and strengthen NW Ohio's economy. Every purchase goes a long way for a small business this holiday season.
This #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth, I’m honoring the incredible resilience of family caregivers — these are everyday heroes who provide and care for their loved ones, often without recognition or support. Their strength deserves our gratitude and support.
Wishing everyone across NW Ohio, our state, and across the nation a Happy Thanksgiving! As we gather around tables in communities near and far, may today be filled with time spent surrounded by family, friends, and the ones you love.
