84 years ago this week, Ida May Fuller received the first-ever Social Security check. Today, Washington Republicans want to slash Social Security, taking money from children, veterans, and older retirees. I fight day in and day out to protect your hard earned benefits!
In Perrysburg and across NW Ohio, by arming communities with tools to attract, retain, and grow small businesses, we strengthen our economy, and build a stronger region. Thanks to Ohio Sea Grant for helping to highlight the importance of small business.
It was a pleasure to meet with a WWII History class at Fremont Ross High School to discuss the importance of honoring the legacy of those who served by telling their story. As the author of legislation that created the WWII Memorial in DC, I know how important these stories are.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reported a record 21.3 million people selected an ACA Health Insurance plan during the 2024 Open Enrollment Period! This includes more than 5 million people new to the ACA exchange marketplace and 16 million who renewed their coverage.
We pay solemn tribute to the 3 US soldiers killed and dozens injured today in an attack in Jordan. Their service in defense of Liberty will not be forgotten. The spiderweb of terror across this region funded by Iran and backed by Russia must not be allowed to go unchecked.
On International Holocaust Remembrance Day let us remember the lives lost and those who fought for Liberty over tyranny.
Joined the Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce at the Camp Perry Conference Center on Lake Erie last night. Great to see many local business owners from across Ottawa County and NW Ohio. Special thanks to Mayor Quinton Babcock and Councilman Barry Hall for the warm welcome.
You can learn more about this effort and the $5.4 Million in funding from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and $8.7 Million in funding from H2Ohio here:
When local, state, and federal entities come together in partnership we can achieve great things. I joined ODNR, EPA GLNPO, the City of Toledo, and other partners to break ground on a project to renew the restore and protect Clark Island and the Delaware Horseshoe Islands.
Presented a flag flown over the Capitol to veteran owned Kuns Northcoast Security in Fremont, Sandusky County.
So glad to be able to meet Roger and Keisha Kuns and hear their story — small business is the backbone of our local and regional economy across NW Ohio.

The bipartisan IMPROVE Safety for Schools Act I introduced with Rep. John James is an important step to protecting children at home and school. I welcome this new executive action to promote safe storage of firearms, and help schools across America communicate this to communities.
It’s deeply troubling that Speaker Johnson is giving up on bipartisan efforts to address Border security. The American people need us to get this right — not kick the can down the road to score political points. Democrats and Republicans must keep working and find real solutions.
Small Business Administration Great Lakes Regional Administrator Geri Agiplay visited NW Ohio for a town hall and roundtable discussion with small business leaders from across our region. We underscored the importance of small business and investing in our regional economy.
In communities across our country where the opioid epidemic has destroyed so many lives, the federal government must assure public funds are directed and allocated to explicitly fund social support services and efforts that prevent deaths and curb this tragic crisis.
I also got a chance to tour and get behind the wheel of a new one of a kind ethanol powered Ford Escape concept vehicle exhibited by Renewable Fuels Association.
As Co-Chair of the House Auto Caucus, joined Rep. Debbie Dingell, Rep. Mike Kelly, Rep. Bob Latta, and Rep. Roger Williams on a bipartisan panel at the Washington DC Auto Show to set forth the agenda for the future of American transportation and how workforce development will be key to our goals.
Fourteen years ago, SCOTUS opened the floodgates to unlimited political spending in its disastrous Citizens United decision. We must Pass the Freedom to Vote Act to end the dominance of wealthy special interests and say once and for all that our Democracy Is Not For Sale.
With 1.7 million anglers spending nearly $5.5 Billion in 2022, fishing is an important industry at home in Northern Ohio. Record low Great Lakes ice cover impacts ice fishing — it may be the only instance where MORE ice is better. 😉
