Schools should be safe places for students. ICE officers are detaining educators at Minnesota high schools—causing chaos and tension in our communities. ICE needs to get off our streets and stay away from our schools.
Visiting the memorial for Renee Nicole Good this morning and seeing the outpouring of love and support was a powerful reminder of the kindness and compassion she brought to the world. Our state is hurting, but we are standing together.
Leaving the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension out of the investigation into Renee Nicole Good's tragic death is wrong. They worked seamlessly with the FBI on Hortman & Annunciation cases—shutting them out now undermines trust and objectivity.
There are more ICE agents in Minnesota than Minneapolis and St. Paul police combined. They are here against the wishes of local law enforcement, including Police Chief Brian O'Hara. ICE is not making our communities more safe, and they need to get off our streets.
I met with Mayor Frey and Police Chief O'Hara today for a briefing on ongoing ICE actions in Minneapolis. We must support our city leaders and local law enforcement working to keep our communities safe.
Finally after we pushed this for a year! The House just passed a bipartisan bill to extend the health care tax credits. SEVENTEEN Republicans joined Democrats to pass this bill. The Senate must vote on it ASAP to lower costs for tens of millions of Americans.
The FBI must work with the professionals at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation of the shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer yesterday. This has to be about justice, not politics.
I just voted for the bipartisan bill to prevent President Trump from continuing his war in Venezuela without authorization from Congress. In an unexpected move 5 Republicans joined us to move this forward. We need to lower costs in America, not try to “run” another country.
Renee Nicole Good was a mother of three, including a 6-year-old boy who is now an orphan. Renee was deeply loved by many. Her mom described her as “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.” This is who we lost yesterday.
