Rural Americans can’t thrive if Congressional Republicans continue to cut funding for the hospitals where they are treated, shutter the public broadcasting programs they tune into, and withhold funding for rural high-speed internet expansion these communities need.
One million Minnesotans rely on Social Security. For 40% of them, it’s half their income.
For 90 years, Social Security has been our best anti-poverty program. We shouldn’t privatize it, we should strengthen it.
Thanks to Paul Sobocinski of Wabasso for joining me.
This is a step backward for consumers, entrepreneurs, workers, and family farmers. It will lead to higher prices, fewer choices, and less innovation. The DOJ and FTC must vigorously enforce the antitrust laws. I will keep fighting to overhaul and modernize these laws.
1 week until the Great Minnesota Get-Together!
Here is a picture of John, Abigail, and me taken at the 2016 State Fair. Can’t wait to see you all there!

Trump’s tariffs are wrecking the economy, and Americans are paying the price.
We need to listen to parents and advocates across the country: a strong, independent Consumer Product Safety Commission helps keep our children safe, preventing injuries and deaths.
Blood donations save lives! Our region urgently needs donations due to a critical shortage of key blood types available for emergency transfusions. Find a donation center here and help raise awareness:

Great meeting with the Northland Community and Technical College leadership team to discuss their workforce development efforts.
Reducing barriers to community college programs means better paying jobs for workers and a stronger workforce for our businesses. It’s a win-win.
Brushed up my tambourine skills to play with a spirited band during one of the National Night Out parties in Bloomington!
Take it from former Republican Speaker Paul Ryan: Trump’s tariffs have “no rationale, other than the President wanting to raise tariffs based upon his whims, his opinions. And so I think choppy waters are ahead.”
We need to restore sanity to our trade policies.
President Trump's tariffs and rhetoric have led to a large decline in Canadian tourism. This hurts American businesses and workers, at the same time that Trump’s tariffs are increasing prices on everyday items.
Congratulations to Carolyn Holbrook on winning the prestigious McKnight Distinguished Artist Award!
Carolyn is a St. Paul-based author and educator. She founded the Whittier Writers’ Workshop and has mentored hundreds of young writers from around the Twin Cities.
Small businesses create about two-thirds of new American jobs. My bipartisan bill will help small businesses like Hennepin Made in Minneapolis buy affordable materials, scale their work, and hire more workers through subsidized loans.
Small businesses like B&T Meats are cornerstones of the community – creating jobs and providing high-quality products sourced from local farmers.
Small businesses like Hennepin Made are the backbone of our economy. Their incredible staff make hand-blown glass fixtures that are shipped around the world and are proudly made in Minneapolis. I stopped by to discuss my bipartisan bill to help small manufacturers access credit.
Thrilled to visit University of Minnesota and discuss my work to secure $1M for the USDA Cereal Disease Lab in the Senate Agriculture Appropriations bill. This funding will accelerate research to prevent crop losses and support Minnesota's industrial hemp farmers.
News: THREE courts in a row upheld the law I led to end the nearly 20-year prohibition on Medicare negotiating lower drug prices. These are major wins for affordable health care—saving seniors and taxpayers billions of dollars a year.
I had a great time touring the Lakeside Tavern & Brewery and hearing from small business owners in Detroit Lakes with Mayor Brenk and former Representative Collin Peterson.
We made a promise to stand by our wartime Afghan allies, now we must keep it.
That’s why I am leading a bipartisan bill to ensure we honor this commitment and help our Afghan allies rebuild their lives in the U.S. with the legal certainty they deserve.
