I just spoke on the Senate floor to oppose my Republican colleagues’ budget that threatens the health care of 31 million children and 7 million seniors to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. This is not what Americans want — I'll keep fighting to protect Americans’ health care.
Headed to the Senate floor to take on this Republican budget that helps the billionaires on the backs of everyone else. Talking about Medicaid and protecting your health care tonight with more to come. And check out what they did to your savings today.
It was great to meet with Andy Ferguson of Ferguson’s Orchards while he was in DC. He has farms in Jordan & Lake City that supplied apples that were enjoyed as part of the dessert at the inaugural luncheon. 🍎
Dismantling USAID’s global health programs puts Americans’ health at risk.   Thank you to @shaheen.senate.gov for hosting an important roundtable to discuss the need to protect Americans by supporting global health efforts.
Our courts have been holding Donald Trump accountable when he violates the law. Now Ted Cruz wants to strip the courts of their power. My response? We have three branches of government — not a king.
NEWS: The Senate just passed my bipartisan bill with @kaine.senate.gov & @markwarner.bsky.social which will block President Trump from abusing his powers to put a sales tax on Canadian goods.   We must restore stability to trade with Canada & reject higher prices brought by chaotic trade policies.
I just spoke on the Senate floor in support of my bipartisan resolution with @kaine.senate.gov and @markwarner.bsky.social to stop Trump’s sales tax on Canadian goods.   The President can’t abuse his power to wage an unjustified trade war that will drive up prices and put jobs on the line.
The Republican national sales tax will: ⬆️ Increase costs by $5,000+ per family per year ⬆️Increase the cost of a new home by up to $20,000 ⬆️Increase the cost of American-made cars by $3,000 ❌Kill up to 400,000 American jobs All while planning to cut taxes for the wealthy.
Trump is announcing new taxes on middle-class families today, at the same time that Republicans are moving forward with their tax cuts for billionaires.   This is National Sales Tax Day — these tariffs will increase costs for the average family by more than $5,000 per year.
The Administration froze funding for 9 Planned Parenthood state health centers, including Minnesota/North Central States locations.    For so many people, it’s the only place they can turn to for check-ups, cancer screenings, or reproductive care. This is dangerous and wrong.
After 24 hours and 18 minutes, @booker.senate.gov just broke the record for the longest speech on the Senate floor. Thank you, Cory, for tirelessly fighting for the American people. We must keep standing up for democracy and against the Trump Administration’s attacks.
The Signal chat where attack plans were discussed was set to auto-delete after one week.   What other chats on auto-delete do they have where they’re discussing classified information?   We need an investigation to get to the bottom of this.
I spoke with seniors in Bloomington about how changes to Social Security are impacting them, including Tony, a Minnesota senior who had to drive 30 miles to the nearest office just to speak with someone.   I will keep fighting to protect Social Security.
The President is taking a sledgehammer to our economy with across-the-board tariffs on our allies, including Canada.   That's why I introduced bipartisan legislation with @kaine.senate.gov and @markwarner.bsky.social to reverse these tariffs on Canada and restore sanity to our trade policy.
Just left the Senate floor where I joined @Booker.senate.gov after his marathon night with more to come. We are standing up for democracy and against the Republican tax plan that gives more money to billionaires on the backs of the American people. Costs are going UP ⬆️, not down ⬇️.
