Thanks to the Brainerd Family YMCA for having me at their 2025 Taste of the Lakes event to support youth enrichment programs and provide mentorship opportunities — I met some great chefs from local restaurants, too!
We’ve made real progress investing in Minnesota's critical infrastructure projects — but there’s more work to do.    I will keep fighting to secure the federal funding needed for these important projects, including for Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge repairs.
President Trump’s firing of two FTC commissioners is not just illegal, it’s a signal to fraudsters and scammers: come and get it. It’s open season on American consumers.
Donald Trump is illegally firing FTC commissioners whose jobs are to protect American consumers from corporate greed.   That's right. Trump is making it easier for his billionaire pals to skirt the law, screw you over and get away with it.   A wannabe king acts this way.
I had great visits with The Beanery Cafe & Roastery in Aitkin and the Cuyuna Brewing Company in Crosby this week to discuss economic development and tourism.   Small businesses are the backbone of our communities — I'll keep fighting to make sure they get the support they need.
On this day in 2010, the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, giving millions of Americans access to affordable healthcare. We must keep fighting to ensure all Americans, no matter where they live or how much they make, have access to the care they need.
I had a great visit to Moose Lake Brewing Company, where I met with staff and toured their brewing operations.   I also got to speak with local leaders, including Mayor Michalski, to discuss waste water infrastructure, housing needs, and support for the fire department.
Russia has abducted more than 19,500 Ukrainian children. We must support efforts to bring them home and hold Russia accountable. My Republican and Democratic colleagues joined me to press the State Department to continue this critical work, not end it. Read more:
A federal judge temporarily blocked Elon Musk’s DOGE from accessing Social Security systems that hold personal data for millions of Americans, calling it a “fishing expedition.”   Good. We need to protect Americans' access to their hard-earned benefits.
I stopped by the Sunrise Village of Milaca assisted living facility to meet with residents and staff. It was great to tour the facility and talk about the importance of Medicaid to the health care of 1.2 million Minnesotans.
I stopped by Sunshine Organics Farm in Hinckley to meet with Arnie Nelson and his son, Tyler. We were joined by Thom Petersen, MN Commissioner of Agriculture, and Dan Glessing, President of the Minnesota Farm Bureau to talk about supporting organic farmers and passing a strong Farm Bill.
Machine gun conversion devices can turn handguns into automatic weapons — and can easily be 3-D printed or cheaply purchased online.   My legislation with @peters.senate.gov will combat the trafficking of these devices to keep people safe and save lives.
A new study of the Republican tax bill found that 35% of the benefits will go to the richest 1% — while costs will rise for everyday Americans.   They’re making you pay for tax cuts for their billionaire buddies.
The Republican plan to take away Medicaid would harm children, seniors, and families in Minnesota, ripping away their health care access and coverage. I spoke with Jonathan Capehart about how Senate Democrats are fighting to protect Medicaid across the country.
Today, I joined the Minnesota Farmers Union for two town halls in Ogilvie and McGregor with MN Farmers Union President Wertish. I got to answer lots of good questions about the farm bill, the negative impacts of the across-the-board tariffs, and concerns about the administration’s actions.
It was great to join the Minnesota Institute of Horn of Africa Studies and the Minnesota Department of Military Affairs for an Iftar Dinner Celebration.   The evening was a reminder that what unites us is far greater than what divides us.
NEWS: @durbin.senate.gov, @cantwell.senate.gov, and I — along with over two dozen of our colleagues — called on President Trump to reverse his illegal firing of Commissioners Slaughter & Bedoya from the FTC. This is about protecting consumers & the rule of law.
Small business owner uncertainty about the economy spiked to the second-highest level in more than 50 years.   The Administration's reckless actions have led to rising costs and created uncertainty — making it harder for small businesses and entrepreneurs to stay afloat. www.cnn.com/2025/03/11/e...
This week, President Trump illegally fired two commissioners on the Federal Trade Commission.   This is an outrageous move that threatens the FTC's bipartisan work, which returned more than $330 million to consumers last year.
