I just spoke on the Senate floor in support of my bipartisan resolution with @kaine.senate.gov and @markwarner.bsky.social to stop Trump’s sales tax on Canadian goods.   The President can’t abuse his power to wage an unjustified trade war that will drive up prices and put jobs on the line.
The Republican national sales tax will: ⬆️ Increase costs by $5,000+ per family per year ⬆️Increase the cost of a new home by up to $20,000 ⬆️Increase the cost of American-made cars by $3,000 ❌Kill up to 400,000 American jobs All while planning to cut taxes for the wealthy.
Trump is announcing new taxes on middle-class families today, at the same time that Republicans are moving forward with their tax cuts for billionaires.   This is National Sales Tax Day — these tariffs will increase costs for the average family by more than $5,000 per year.
The Administration froze funding for 9 Planned Parenthood state health centers, including Minnesota/North Central States locations.    For so many people, it’s the only place they can turn to for check-ups, cancer screenings, or reproductive care. This is dangerous and wrong.
After 24 hours and 18 minutes, @booker.senate.gov just broke the record for the longest speech on the Senate floor. Thank you, Cory, for tirelessly fighting for the American people. We must keep standing up for democracy and against the Trump Administration’s attacks.
The Signal chat where attack plans were discussed was set to auto-delete after one week.   What other chats on auto-delete do they have where they’re discussing classified information?   We need an investigation to get to the bottom of this.
I spoke with seniors in Bloomington about how changes to Social Security are impacting them, including Tony, a Minnesota senior who had to drive 30 miles to the nearest office just to speak with someone.   I will keep fighting to protect Social Security.
The President is taking a sledgehammer to our economy with across-the-board tariffs on our allies, including Canada.   That's why I introduced bipartisan legislation with @kaine.senate.gov and @markwarner.bsky.social to reverse these tariffs on Canada and restore sanity to our trade policy.
Just left the Senate floor where I joined @Booker.senate.gov after his marathon night with more to come. We are standing up for democracy and against the Republican tax plan that gives more money to billionaires on the backs of the American people. Costs are going UP ⬆️, not down ⬇️.
Whistleblowers play a critical role in combating corruption.
I joined @blumenthal.senate.gov and colleagues in introducing bipartisan legislation that will ensure employees can provide information to federal law enforcers about illegal behavior without fear of retaliation.
Apprenticeships provide Americans with valuable on-the-job training and skills to work in high-demand fields.    I introduced bipartisan legislation to provide additional tuition assistance to expand access to apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships.
Yesterday I spoke with the Department of Defense and learned an FAA investigation is underway into the DOD plane flying so close to a passenger flight bound for Minnesota. This should never have happened and poses a significant safety risk. We must get to the bottom of what happened asap.
Ukrainians seeking refuge in the US shouldn’t face such an uncertain future.   I’m working to get answers for Dasha, a Ukrainian teenager in Minnesota and her host family — and will keep fighting to ensure we stand with Ukraine.
My office and I are doing all we can to get information about this concerning case. We’re in contact with the University and understand they had no prior warning or information that led to this detainment. These students are a major part of the fabric of life in the school and our community.
