This Senate deal abandons millions who rely on ACA credits for affordable healthcare. Republicans caused this crisis—gutting Medicaid, giving billionaires $4T, and shutting down the gov for 40 days. This fight isn't over; @housedemocrats.bsky.social will keep fighting.
Last month, I stopped by Strugglebeard Bakery, a small business in Hyde Park. I spoke with Quinton, a retired Army veteran, about how trade and tax changes are shaping the future for local entrepreneurs. Thank you for your service and your work in Hyde Park!
What happened at this Chicago daycare is terrifying. No child should watch armed agents storm their classroom. No parent should wonder if drop-off is safe. I’m demanding accountability from DHS & ICE because our communities deserve safety, not fear. 📽️ Credit: AP NEWS
It’s Day 40 of the Republican shutdown, the longest in US history. Republicans have been on vacation for 51 days. Families are missing paychecks, SNAP benefits are delayed, and healthcare costs keep climbing. It’s time to put people before politics.
I’m thrilled to welcome Dunkin’ and Jimmy John’s to Pullman! These new businesses mean more jobs, more food options, and more opportunities for families on the far South Side. When we invest in our neighborhoods, we build stronger communities.
A federal judge ruled that detainees at the Broadview Ice Facility must get enough food, water, and space. It shouldn’t take a court order for people to be treated humanely. I’ll keep fighting to end Operation Midway Blitz and hold ICE accountable.
One in four residents in our district are struggling to put food on the table as President Trump refuses to fully fund SNAP. The Emmaus Community is filling that gap with compassion and care, making sure families don’t go hungry. I’m grateful for their leadership and service.
Families cannot afford this Republican healthcare crisis. It’s already too expensive to be sick in this country, and it’s about to get worse. People’s healthcare bills will increase more than 200%. Republicans prioritize politics over the welfare of the people. That’s unacceptable.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program honors service over profit. It tells nurses, teachers, & first responders that their years of dedication matter. Trump’s decision to end this program isn’t about policy—it’s about punishing people who serve our communities over chasing profit.
It shouldn’t take a federal judge to tell Sec. Noem and President Trump that people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. The judge called the Broadview ICE Facility a “prison.” I am demanding answers—and for immediate change. chicago.suntimes.com/immigration/...
SNAP benefits are NOT a “handout.” SNAP feeds 42 million Americans, including children, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities. President Trump: Pay attention to 42 million Americans instead of political games.
Thank you to Speaker Emerita @pelosi.house.gov for your historic leadership and unwavering service. You’ve shown generations of women what it means to know their power and use it to build a better America.
Republicans shut down the government, but my office is still open. Dealing with federal agencies can be tough. That's why my Constituent Services team steps in to smooth the path. We act as your liaison and cut through the red tape to get you the answers and resources you deserve.
Open enrollment started this week; millions of Americans are finding out just how much their premiums skyrocketed because Republicans will let ACA tax credits expire. President Trump & Republicans are responsible for this healthcare crisis. abcnews.go.com/US/aca-obama...
Families are struggling to pay their bills, put food on the table, and afford healthcare. Yet President Trump is refurbishing a new jet, taking golf trips, and sending money to Argentina to bail them out. What about hardworking Americans?
SNAP feeds families, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities. In my district, one in four people rely on SNAP to make ends meet. Instead of releasing the funds, Trump is deepening the crisis—and hunger hurts everyone, from farmers to grocery store employees.
Federal agents crashed into a woman’s car, pulled her out at gunpoint, and forced her into a minivan. She was held for hours, then released without charges or explanation. Chicagoans say ICE is out of control. But President Trump says he wants more.
