Breaking news for those who aren’t on Twitter anymore.
It’s almost like everyone knows that Trump’s budget is a big, ugly bill.
Reposted byCongresswoman Robin Kelly
On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @repbeatty.bsky.social breaks down Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill — a nightmare ripping food and care from millions. House Republicans pushed it through while you were sleeping because they don’t want you to know what’s in it.
As we celebrate and declare Pride joy this month, I want to let every member of the LGBTQI+ community know:
I see you.
I see your power.
And I will fight for your rights against Republican attacks.
I’m proud to be your ally in Congress this #PrideMonth and beyond.
Hadiya’s loved ones started Wear Orange, and the color has become a beacon for action against gun violence.
Today, I introduced the Wear Orange Resolution to honor Hadiya and recognize June as Gun Violence Awareness Month with Senators Durbin and Duckworth:

Hadiya Pendleton should be turning 28 today—but her life was cut short when she was fatally shot in a park.
I joined Hadiya’s parents and survivors in a balloon release to honor all the lives stolen by gun violence. We remember Hadiya’s life & dedicate ourselves to a safer future.

Chicago usually experiences high levels of gun violence during Memorial Day weekend—but not this weekend.
This is heartening. We must keep up the good work & support community violence intervention orgs that deescalate situations, offer job training, and more.

Our senior citizens are worried about gun violence, Medicaid, and social security. They’ve seen and lived through a lot — but they said this Trump administration is something else.
I had great conversations with residents of Montgomery Place Retirement Community in Chicago. Thanks for having me!
I joined @ramirez.house.gov at a hearing in Bensenville to listen to educators and those impacted by cuts to public education.
There’s no mistaking what we heard: President Trump is raising education costs, reducing the teacher workforce, and hurting our children’s futures.
There are dangerous repercussions when an anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorist is in charge of our country’s health.
RFK Jr. can try to change policy, but the science remains the same: vaccines are safe.
Our country lost a true public servant today.
Rep. Charlie Rangel was a fighter and trailblazer for Harlem and his district, where I grew up. As my Congressman, he founded the CBC, and now I and every Black Congressmember stand on his shoulders.
May he rest in power.
Today, I honor and remember the fallen servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice and never returned home. Their courage will never be forgotten.
This #MemorialDay, I thank the families of our fallen heroes.
Today, I remember George Floyd, whose life was cut short five years ago when a police officer unjustly suffocated him.
We must follow through on the Floyd family’s demands to pass real, comprehensive reform to policing and prevent more families from experiencing the same pain.
Three years ago today, my heart shattered as I heard the news of a school shooting in Uvalde.
21 families lost loved ones. 17 students were injured. A whole community was changed forever.
I’m thinking about all of them today as we remember and grieve the lives stolen.
Antisemitism and hateful violence of any kind has no place in our country.
My heart is with the families of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, a young couple who was shot and killed outside of the Capital Jewish Museum in DC.

In the dead of night, Republicans jammed through their Big, Ugly Bill to steal healthcare and food assistance from Americans as they slept.
I voted NO.
This fight is not over. We need to keep the pressure on the Senate now.
If Republicans truly cared about mothers and babies, my amendment should've been a no-brainer.
But they voted no.
Medicaid covers 40% of births across the country. It should also cover a full year postpartum for women in every state.
Republicans are trying to pass President Trump's Big, Ugly Bill — the one that cuts Medicaid by $880 billion.
Cuts to Medicaid sacrifice optional policies like postpartum coverage.
I've been here since 5 AM to present my amendment that would make postpartum coverage permanent for a full year.
I witnessed Gerry's leadership and integrity when we served on the Oversight committee and passed bipartisan legislation together. His legacy will leave an outstanding and generational impact on our country.
I am heartbroken to hear that my great colleague Congressman Gerry Connolly has passed. My condolences are with his entire family during this difficult time. Gerry was a dedicated public servant who relentlessly fought for his constituents, even as he battled cancer.
