4) How is a 10% tariff on Canadian oil which supplies 4 million of barrels a day to US, particularly in the midwest, help Americans at the pump? How does taxing lumber help with housing costs? Trump policies making grocery, gas, & rent go up.
3) Why does Trump think tariffs alone without a Hamiltonian approach of subsidies, incentives, financing, government procurement, & workforce development will be enough to have new factories come up in America?
2) Why is Trump putting more tariffs on our allies Mexico and Canada at 25 percent than our strategic economic rival China at 10 percent? Who in Trump world is saying lets give the Chinese a better deal?
1) Why is trump putting 25 percent tariffs on food items which hurt lower income Americans & are inflationary making up a significant portion of consumer spending when he ran on bringing down the price of groceries?
Thread: Tariffs are useful to protect strategic industries like steel, semiconductor, aluminum from unfair foreign competition. But Trump is imposing these on nondurable goods (cucumbers, tomatoes, avocados) and on allies making Americans pay more for groceries. Some questions:
We will not "Make America Healthy Again" by allowing Big Pharma to overcharge America. Congress must pass Bernie Sanders' and my bill to make sure Americans don't pay a dime more for drugs than patients in other Western democracies.
I am proud to support Ken Martin for DNC Chair. He has earned the support of many progressives in Congress b/c of his commitment to a 50-state strategy, supporting grassroots & state organizing, fair democratic primaries, & focusing our party on a strong working-class agenda.
When we stand together and fight back, we win. Credit Judge Loren AliKhan for blocking Trump's reckless funding freeze. And to everyone who spoke out and said No. This will save lives.
The Constitution gives Congress the power of the purse, not the White House. These funds have already been allocated. They help families afford food, heat their homes, pay for childcare, go to the doctor, and more. This is worse than Project 2025.
If you are a Democrat who thinks we should remain silent, hide, talk about the price of eggs, or go along with mass deportations including of school children, you do not get this moment. People want those of us with any power to speak up & do something. Remember Sacco & Vanzetti.

Labor delivers for workers because they do exceptional work. They also secure major investments in domestic manufacturing, making America stronger and better.
10 megadonors funded 44% of Trump’s campaign, while the top 10 donors funded 8% of Harris's campaign. Today's politicians are too beholden to the donor class. That's why I co-founded the No PAC caucus, and I've never taken a dime of lobbyist or PAC money.
My new op-ed in @rollingstone.com: Elon Musk’s stunning political influence offers a stark example of how the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision—which turns 15 this week—enabled billionaires to wield disproportionate power over policy and governance. 🧵

Trump's order removes birthright citizenship for children born in the US not just to undocumented parents but to "lawful" immigrants who are temporarily on a student visa, H1B/H2B visa, or business visa. So much for the pretense that the Republicans are for legal immigration.
This is a brilliant piece by Sandel + Piketty who argue that the offshoring of manufacturing + condescension towards the way of life of some Americans has cost our party support. We can and must change as a party and offer a vision of government for economic renewal.

Congress must stand up for patients, pass #MedicareForAll, and regulate these self-dealing middlemen now.
UnitedHealth has overcharged some cancer patients for medicine by over 1,000%.
An FTC report finds that OptumRx, United Health's pharmacy benefit manager, has made billions by charging patients a huge markup for life-saving drugs.

Democrats should demand we give Americans a raise in exchange for voting to raise the debt limit. Let's force a vote on increasing the minimum wage which the vast majority of Americans want.
The Democratic Party needs to listen to young people. Let's get back to our roots and be the party of the people.
✅ Rejecting corporate donations for the DNC;
✅ Banning super PACs in Democratic primaries.
I've been out on the picket line with Starbucks workers and heard their just concerns. Starbucks should listen to Wilma Liebman, engage a mediator, and negotiate a fair contract w/ @sbworkersunited.org www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
