This whole situation is moving very quickly. It’s already hurting people hard and it has to stop.
This isn’t a partisan issue. Republicans, Democrats, Independents — urban, suburban, and rural communities — red states and blue states — everyone is feeling the impact.
What I can tell you right now is almost no one is being spared — children, families, seniors, small businesses, healthcare organizations.

5. Here’s how this could impact you and why this is very important
SW Ohio and nearly every community relies on these dollars. We’ve heard from several organizations impacted in the last few hours.
We are working with House committees and leadership, federal agencies, and local community organizations to fully understand how this is being carried out and who is expected to be impacted.
4. Here’s what we are trying to learn and how we’re going about it
While the directive says this is *temporary* – there is no indication within the memo as to how long the pause will be.
The administration has not provided any other clarity.
3. Here’s what we don’t know
Organizations that NEED funding to carry out their work are being told, via email, out of the blue, that their federal funding is now cut off with no additional information, and no recourse they can take.
People can't access their grant funding ⬇️
Federal funding that these organizations rely on — including local housing projects, addiction treatment programs, healthcare services for low-income residents, and more, is being abruptly halted.
We do know that this pause is having an impact on nearly every part of our communities, including:
➡️Healthcare centers and hospitals
➡️Local governments
➡️Public safety services
➡️Nonprofits
Federal agencies were told they “must temporarily pause all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all Federal financial assistance” by 5:00pm today, Tuesday, January 28th.

Late Monday, the Office of Management and Budget – responsible for overseeing all federal agencies, and administering the federal budget – issued a message to the heads of all federal agencies.
It directs them to “identify and review all Federal financial assistance programs.”
