And now, when given the chance to lower costs and deliver relief for the American people, they have once again walked away from their responsibility. I refuse to rubber stamp their cruelty and indifference. That’s why I'm voting NO. [3/3]
While families lost their SNAP benefits, they went on vacation. While parents opened rate notices showing their premiums skyrocketing, they relaxed at home. While air traffic controllers worked without pay to keep Americans safe, they chose to do nothing. [2/3]
Republicans created this health care crisis. Time and again, they’ve shown they can’t be trusted to put people over politics. The fight for affordable, high-quality care isn’t over. And I won’t back down. [2/2]
Republicans chose to shut down the government rather than lower health care costs. They chose to use food as leverage and ignored court orders telling them to stop. Now they’re jamming through a C.R. that doesn't stop premiums from skyrocketing and millions of Americans from losing coverage. [1/2]
I’m deeply grateful for the Veterans Affiliated Council’s leadership and our local veteran organizations in our region making sure Sacramento’s veterans are always supported, year-round.
Sacramento is home to tens of thousands of veterans, spanning generations. From World War II to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and every conflict and mission in between. Each of them carries a story of courage. Each of them deserves dignity, support, and respect.
Veterans Day is a moment of reflection, a moment of gratitude, and a moment of responsibility. Today, I had the privilege of honoring WWII veteran Raymond Basquez, whose commitment to service should be an incredible example for us all to follow.

Now they’re asking families to trust a vague promise of a future vote to lower health care costs. It's unacceptable. Premiums are skyrocketing. Americans are already stretched thin. I’ve been fighting to protect coverage, lower costs, & hold the Trump admin accountable. I’m not stopping now.
In the face of extreme uncertainty, volunteers, food banks, and local nonprofits have gone the extra mile to make sure our neighbors are cared for. That is who Sacramento is-we show up for one another. And I’ll keep fighting back against every one of the Trump administration’s cruel attacks.
While the Trump administration rips SNAP benefits away from families, our community stepped up. This week, my team and I volunteered at food banks all over our district, putting in over a hundred staff hours, and getting food to over 2,100 families.

Republicans have chosen chaos over solutions—shutting down the government instead of working to lower costs and protect coverage. Today is a call to action. We’ve come too far to turn back. I’ll keep fighting to preserve the enhanced premium tax credits and ensure all Californians can stay covered.
This morning, I joined @coveredca.bsky.social California to kick off open enrollment. Covered California and the Affordable Care Act have transformed lives by making affordable, high-quality health care a reality for millions of families. That progress is now at risk.
Playing political games with food is beyond the pale, but very much in line with this administration’s cruel standard operating procedure. While Republicans stay away, my Democratic colleagues & I are making sure not a moment is wasted, especially when it comes to the wellbeing of our neighbors.
For the second time in two weeks a federal judge has ordered Donald Trump to fund SNAP for the month of November. We still don’t know if he’s going to follow that order, because he has yet to follow the first. [1/2]
I want to thank the team at the Yolo Food Bank, the amazing volunteers, and our West Sacramento community leaders for stepping up and supporting our most vulnerable neighbors. In the face of cruelty, you have responded with care and compassion, because that’s who we are. I’ll always fight for you.
I joined the Yolo Food Bank today to help support our West Sacramento community in their time of need. Food should never be used as a bargaining chip. The Trump administration may be dragging their feet to feed the American people, but our region isn’t. [1/2]
