On #MemorialDay, we remember and honor our service members who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. My thoughts are with them and their families today. I wish you all a safe and peaceful Memorial Day.
➡️It sabotages our ability to support public safety, protect national security, and close the digital divide. This bill is an all-out assault on American families. I will vote unequivocally NO.
➡️It rips away health care coverage from millions of Americans. ➡️It takes food assistance away from millions of kids, older Americans, and people with disabilities. ➡️It kills clean energy projects and next-generation manufacturing.
Tonight, they made massive, last-minute changes to their Big Ugly Bill. Now, they are trying to jam the bill through in the middle of the night before anyone can notice. Here’s the truth:
House Republicans have spent the last two weeks making a complete mockery of the legislative process. They've chosen to operate under the cover of darkness and hide what they’re doing from the American people.
Republicans’ “beautiful” bill is anything but. 🌳 Guts environmental protections 🏥 Endangers public health 💰 Wrecks our economy As @houseseec.bsky.social co-chair, I know that the Republicans' big bill lets polluters off the hook & sacrifices our children’s health—for tax breaks for the wealthy.
Republicans are giving a green light for polluters to pump more cancer-causing chemicals into the air we breathe. That’s right—my Republican colleagues would rather prioritize their oil and chemical business donors instead of protecting the health of their own constituents. youtu.be/RudUa8s5U20
🚨 Senate GOP is abusing the Congressional Review Act to attack CA's right to set air pollution standards. 🚨 The Government Accountability Office said it was against the law. Senate GOP is ignoring GAO & killing the filibuster to end CA's clean air protections. www.politico.com/live-updates...
It’s 1 a.m. Yet, the Republicans feel the best time to strip millions of their health care, roll back environmental protections, and slash food and nutrition assistance is while you sleep. They have one mission, get Trump his tax cuts. I will continue to make this as painful as possible for them.
House GOP are jamming through their big ugly bill as fast as they can, but I'm fighting them every step of the way. Republicans claim to care about moms & kids—but this is anything but that. Their cuts to Medicaid will force hospitals to close. @demwomencaucus.bsky.social youtu.be/ks106c0asv8
Time & again, the Trump Administration has used fear & intimidation to silence dissent. But this is a disturbing escalation—a politically charged assault to silence a Member of Congress for simply doing their job. I stand in solidarity with @replamonica.bsky.social. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...
Salt Typhoon, a Chinese hacker group, stole Americans’ call records and also gained access to people closely aligned with the Trump administration. So what do Republicans want to do now? Weaken our cyber readiness. It’s reckless. And it puts our national security at risk. youtu.be/TYJOYZTtXVs
Connecting our military families, rural communities, and seniors to the internet isn’t a luxury. Republicans want to sell off the rights to use broadband infrastructure to the highest bidder for tax cuts. We should be closing the digital divide—not cashing in on it. youtu.be/JurZoXqwLW8
The GOP reconciliation bill & its massive cuts to Medicaid would reduce ambulance services, shutter hospitals, nursing homes, & clinics. We're already faced with the challenge of health care deserts across my state and the country. We should be building care—not bulldozing it. youtu.be/HSGYmNIiDHQ
Nicholas was diagnosed with TWO rare diseases, Beta Thalassemia and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Doctors said he wouldn’t live past 18. But this fall, thanks to Medicaid, he’s headed to college. Medicaid gives kids like Nicholas the ability to fight. Nicholas is why we fight. youtu.be/t_3fhIVC9UE
26hrs in, and Republicans were focused on misinformation, bigotry, and nonsense. They want to make you weary of your neighbors, and they will say whatever they can to convince you that stealing your healthcare is in your best interest. This is pathetic.
23 hrs in & Republicans are trying to defund @ppfa.org. This is about stripping health care from millions in underserved communities. People like Novelyn. When she found a lump under her arm, she was able to make one call and had a mammogram. Planned Parenthood saved her life. youtu.be/qq3k9IQ27uQ
