It’s hour 21 of this markup. I've been fighting back all night against GOP cuts to Medicaid. Around 4:30am, I spoke about Denise, who became eligible for Medicaid after losing her husband to brain cancer. Then Denise got breast cancer—but thanks to Medicaid, Denise beat cancer. youtu.be/11LWyg_QGzY
I will be here to fight for as long as it takes. They might be running out the clock—but they won’t outlast me. I’ll fight all night if I have to. Your health. Your future. I’m not backing down.
It wrecks environmental protections. And, it abandons rural communities’ broadband expansion. This isn’t policy—it’s cruelty dressed up in talking points. All so Trump and his allies can cash in while everyday Americans lose care, clean air, and connection.
It’s 3 a.m. The Republicans are still trying to jam through their “Big Beautiful Bill.” Let me be clear: there’s nothing beautiful about it. It’s a giant, ugly disaster. It guts Medicaid, terminating health care coverage for millions of Americans.
California has been an engine of AI innovation but also a national leader in ensuring we balance innovation and competition with transparency and common-sense safeguards. To stall any legislative progress on artificial intelligence, for a decade, is a slap in the face to American consumers.
We’re over 8 hours into this markup – and we are still fighting back hard against these cruel Republican cuts. Thank you to the advocates who have been here all day standing with us. I’ll be here all night telling your stories and pushing back against these attacks on Medicaid and our future.
In my district, La Familia Counseling Center received $18.5 million to build a community resilience center, a new park, and install cost-saving energy upgrades in community homes. Republicans want to rip that funding away to give tax breaks to the ultra-rich.
Republicans want to gut #Medicaid—and who pays the price? Seniors in nursing homes, cancer patients, people with disabilities, and kids like Sam. Sam has down syndrome, autism, and a speech disorder. Medicaid covers his in-home care so Sam can live a safe and dignified life. youtu.be/6GBSPj__62k
Republicans dropped their budget bill in the dead of night. Why? Because it guts Medicaid, rolls back environmental protections, and even sabotages national security. They don’t want you to see what they’re trying to take. I won’t stop calling it out. As long as it takes. youtu.be/lZEXyfNtNf4
The math is crystal clear — House Republicans’ budget will result in millions losing their health coverage. They will raise costs for working families. They will leave kids, parents, seniors, & people with disabilities without the care they need. Republicans need to keep their hands off Medicaid.
Republicans are taking away health care for hardworking Americans to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. And they refuse to admit it. It would devastate people’s lives and finances. Someone like Chris would have to sell his house and move – just to afford his son’s health care. Make it make sense.
From school to finding work, the digital divide has consequences for families. Digital Equity Act grants ensure that Americans have internet access. Yet Trump is wants to block Congressionally directed funding that would invest in broadband access & digital literacy. www.newsweek.com/donald-trump...
You are not alone. 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year. Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. If you’ve been concerned about your mental health, there is help available—call or text 988 for support. #MentalHealthMonth
The Congressional Budget Office has brought the proof. House Republicans’ budget proposals would throw millions of Americans off of Medicaid. There's no way for Republicans to spin this. Not a single option they're presenting protects or provides a healthier America. www.politico.com/live-updates...
Years ago, we broke ground on Aggie Square—now groundbreaking research can happen inside this facility. Sacramento is primed for continued growth—& it takes determined collaboration from community leaders to manifest that future. @ucdavis.bsky.social’s leadership on Aggie Square exemplifies that.
Chancellor Gary S. May joined city of Sacramento leaders, developer Wexford Science & Technology LLC, business partners & the community to inaugurate Aggie Square. The $1.1B innovation district brings together the university’s cutting-edge research, private-sector companies and startups.
Left to right: Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem Eric Guerra; Claire Drummond, Vice President for Development, Wexford Science & Technology; UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May; and UC Davis Chief Innovation and Economic Development Officer George Baxter formally cut the ribbon to inaugurate Aggie Square.
Contrary to GOP misinformation, CA’s Low NOx standard isn't an EV mandate, it’s a necessary step to prevent smog. Our regulations are by Californians for Californians. Other states have recognized the benefit of CA’s air pollution standards & voluntarily adopted our standards. youtu.be/4mx5k8Y5GIE
No president can go above the law to weaponize public broadcasting as their personal mouthpiece. That’s why I introduced the Broadcast Freedom & Independence Act to protect media from gov't attacks regardless of POV & led a bipartisan letter to protect federal funding for public broadcasting.
BREAKING: President Trump signs executive order to end federal funding of NPR and PBS.
Our universities are places that protect the exchange of ideas without prejudice & fear. That’s why I'm standing with @jayapal.house.gov & 141 others demanding answers on why the very purpose of our higher education is being used as a tool to facilitate nativist policy. We need these answers now.
Trump’s canceling of student visas isn’t about national security. It’s about stifling political dissent, restricting due process, and enforcing an exclusionary vision of America. It’s wrong. I’m proud to be leading 142 of my colleagues in demanding answers.
It shouldn’t be controversial to say that air pollution is dangerous. Why are Republicans trying to degrade CA's air quality? Why are they putting the health of my constituents at risk? It’s because Republicans do the bidding of the oil lobbyists. They're scared of the future. youtu.be/E4Fw0a_3yNI
