Our universities are places that protect the exchange of ideas without prejudice & fear. That’s why I'm standing with @jayapal.house.gov & 141 others demanding answers on why the very purpose of our higher education is being used as a tool to facilitate nativist policy. We need these answers now.
Trump’s canceling of student visas isn’t about national security. It’s about stifling political dissent, restricting due process, and enforcing an exclusionary vision of America. It’s wrong. I’m proud to be leading 142 of my colleagues in demanding answers.
It shouldn’t be controversial to say that air pollution is dangerous. Why are Republicans trying to degrade CA's air quality? Why are they putting the health of my constituents at risk? It’s because Republicans do the bidding of the oil lobbyists. They're scared of the future. youtu.be/E4Fw0a_3yNI
Happy #AANHPIHeritageMonth to those in the Sacramento region & across the country! The achievements of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, & Pacific Islanders have propelled our country forward in arts, science, public service & beyond. We celebrate our tapestry of cultures & uplift our stories.
House GOP want to strip CA's authority to set our air pollution standards. For over 50 years, CA has led the nation in reducing air pollution under the Clean Air Act. They're abusing a legislative gimmick to overrule Californians, putting my constituents at risk! matsui.house.gov/media/press-...
Republicans claim to defend states’ rights—then do everything in their power to stop CA from setting our own emissions standards. Instead of playing political games with Californians’ clean air, Republicans should stand up to Trump, end the tariffs, & bring down costs. youtu.be/4PiTbtgbjos
📣 Join us for Constituent Office Hours TOMORROW 📣 If you need help navigating a federal agency, my staff will be at the Sam & Bonnie Pannell Community Center in Sacramento on May 1 to help you obtain reliable information and make inquiries on your behalf.
Republicans talk tough about protecting us against foreign adversaries—but talk is cheap. Their refusal to hold the Admin accountable speaks volumes. Meanwhile, Democrats have been working to increase network safety & protect Americans’ info. This isn't the time for inaction. youtu.be/bxQyWg0taXs
At yesterday's @energycommerce.bsky.social markup, I called out the Trump Administration and Republicans for pretending they’re addressing the nation’s substance use and mental health crisis—while dismantling the very infrastructure we need to fight these crises. Watch below ⬇️ youtu.be/pL21eiFVPig
My Democratic colleagues & I will continue to stand up for the Constitution, the rule of law, & you. I urge my Republican colleagues to wake up & join us. The future of our nation demands it.
The Trump Admin’s first 100 days have been defined by chaos & cruelty. Trump's attempts to consolidate power, upend the Constitution, & destroy progress have made life harder & more unpredictable for millions of Americans. Now, the next 100 days will reveal the consequences of his reckless actions.
The Administration for Community Living provides vital support for older Americans & those with disabilities. RFK Jr. disbanding the ACL is cruel. That's why I led my colleagues to resist his attempt to imperil those who need compassionate care. #OlderAmericansMonth matsui.house.gov/media/press-...
From cutting jobs at NIH to cancelling hundreds of millions of dollars in research grants—the Admin’s attacks on basic science impact ALL of us. Today, I told Republicans: If you want more research on issues you care about—you should stand up to the Admin's attacks on the NIH. youtu.be/aa-K9EFAhZc
Today, the House passed my bill, the FUTURE Networks Act, which would ensure America continues our leadership & standard setting in the global technology race. ✅ The 6G race isn't just faster phones—it's about national security, the economy, & our standing on the world stage. youtu.be/RFfSL5kjrno
I gathered community partners and friends to tell the Trump Administration: hands off #SocialSecurity. It is a promise made to the American people by the American people. Here in Sacramento we won’t stay silent about the impact of those cuts. We will stand up for each other and fight back.
Congrats to Molina Healthcare on opening Northern California’s first One Stop Help Center! This new Sacramento location offers services like CalFresh enrollment, year-round tax help, and housing assistance. At a time when these resources are under threat, Sacramento is standing strong, together.
Urban forests are critical to addressing air pollution & reducing energy costs. 🌳 That’s why I’m reintroducing the TREES Act, which would empower communities to improve access to green space & clean air, reduce consumer costs, & help fight climate change. #ArborDay matsui.house.gov/media/press-...
As National Service Caucus Co-Chair in Congress, I led a letter with 149 of my colleagues to President Trump urging him to reverse course and support national service. We see the impact you make every day—and I will always stand up for and with you.
Service is a core aspect of our American identity. I was thrilled to be at Florin High School to discuss the potential of national service with @americorps.bsky.social volunteers. When you talk about our big challenges—like fighting climate change—service organizations are working to address these.
Today, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Sutter Health’s new Elk Grove Specialty Care Center! This care center will bring much needed resources to the region—more appointments, physicians, and public health awareness—all of which will keep our community healthy and strong.
