Last week at our hearing, we heard from @NIPNLG.bsky.social’s Sirine Shebaya, who represents a 4-year-old U.S. citizen with cancer. A child that was deported without their parents’ consent. And Secretary Noem appears to have lied under oath about it.
Not every job requires a four-year degree, but all good jobs require training. That is why I am co-sponsoring the Supporting Apprenticeship Colleges Act to provide critical funding for apprenticeship colleges that train and place workers in high-demand fields in Rhode Island.
Trump & Republicans gave billionaires tax cuts in their Big Ugly Bill. I am fighting for: ✔️ A tax break for the Middle Class ✔️ Enhanced SSA benefits ✔️ A right to unionize ✔️ Paid time off for all workers Let’s put regular people first, not billionaires.
🚨 Today I reintroduced my bill to guarantee paid time off for American workers. Everyone who works hard deserves to have some time off. My PTO Act will ensure every full-time worker gets two weeks off and can use it for any reason.
I was honored to attend the Tomaquag Museum’s Annual Honoring & Cultural Celebration, a gathering that uplifts Indigenous culture, and history in RI. This museum is about preserving Native heritage and making sure these stories are seen, heard, and passed on.
I want to hear from you. We need good ideas that make life better for people. I’m launching a new series all about good ideas, and I want your help: If you have an idea that would make a good policy in Congress, comment, DM, or contact my office! Let's build a positive agenda together.
🚨NEW: After @pingree.house.gov, @amo.house.gov & my advocacy, NOAA’s IOOS program is getting the funding it needs to monitor ocean weather, support marine rescues, and give fishermen the data they need to do their jobs. The restoration of this funding is a win for coastal states & the blue economy.
Yesterday, a bipartisan group of congressional staff from across the country visited Edesia Nutrition in North Kingstown. Congress has long supported manufacturers like Edesia for their lifesaving work feeding children around the world.
Right now, $8 million worth of lifesaving food is sitting in a warehouse in Rhode Island, already paid for by taxpayer, while children around the world starve. This is a moral failure. And I will speak out until the Trump Administration restores this critical food aid.
70 years ago, U.S. farmers with surplus wheat helped launch the Food for Peace program, sparking decades of bipartisan food aid, including life-saving products from Edesia Nutrition. This year, the Trump Administration cut that funding. It’s time to restore it—and save lives.
Child care costs have skyrocketed and working parents are paying the price. I am co-sponsoring @bobbyscott.house.gov's Child Care for Working Families Act to fund child care and ensure families pay no more than 7 percent of their income on care. This puts kids and families first.
ICYMI: I joined Commissioner Infante-Green and Mayor Smiley to call on the administration to restore the funding for afterschool programs and teacher training that it has frozen. . Blocking this funding hurts students and is completely unnecessary. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/07/09/m...
The Constitution gives Congress, not the President, the power to impose tariffs. And President Trump’s tariffs are driving up costs on everyday goods for working people. I am joining an amicus brief challenging Trump’s abuse of his authority and opposing these illegal tariffs.
60 years ago, the Older Americans Act began funding programs like Meals on Wheels, in-home care, and transportation—helping seniors live with dignity and independence. On its anniversary, we must recommit to protecting these essential services and honoring every older American.
