Today, the Energy & Commerce Committee considers bills to address the opioid and substance abuse crisis in this nation. @energycommerce.bsky.social want to ensure that everyone gets the care they need. Meanwhile, Republicans take action to undermine the very work needed to address this issue.
In the midst of COVID, Sammy inspired the catchphrase in our family, “Get some joy in there!” Now, we find ourselves saying it often — as a reminder to look towards the bright things in life. Happy birthday, Sammy! You have brought us joy for 10 years and counting!

The FCC must approve a merger between CBS’s parent company Paramount and Skydance Media. Wary of Trump’s dislike of 60 Minutes, Paramount began supervising their programming in new ways. This shift towards self-censorship demonstrates the threat to freedom of the press posed by this Administration.
🎥 As we approach 100 days of the Trump Administration, the American people increasingly disapprove of what he is doing. I shared what I’m hearing with @newsnation.bsky.social about his actions since day 1.
Both federal and state authorities must ensure nursing home patients get the quality care they deserve. Disturbing reports about conditions at the Colonial Heights Rehabilitation Center demand answers. Read my letter below ⬇️
Graphic. Background is a photo of the Colonial Heights Rehabilitation and Nursing Center sign. Text reads, “CONGRESSWOMAN MCCLELLAN WRITES LETTER TO COLONIAL HEIGHTS REHABILITATION AND NURSING CENTER EXPRESSING CONCERN OVER REPORTS OF TROUBLING CONDITIONS.” Logo of Rep. McClellan is present at the bottom center of the page.
Virginia has a thriving life sciences industry that benefits from federal investments in the National Institutes of Health. These investments save lives. I joined Rep. Wittman to see that funding in action by touring Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Richmond bioanalytical lab services facilities.

While Congress was in recess, I visited with constituents, educators, biomedical researchers, manufacturers and more across Virginia’s Fourth District to discuss how the chaos unleashed by the Trump Administration since January 20th impacts their lives and work. Read more in my newsletter.
A passionate and pragmatic leader, @connolly.house.gov’s work over the past 40 years has made countless lives better. From my days as a state legislator to now serving as his colleague in Congress, I am honored to be his friend. My prayers are with Gerry, Smitty and Caitlin in this next battle.

Richmond determined the outcome of the Civil War. To close out #NationalParkWeek, I visited Richmond National Battlefield Park to tour the Chimborazo Visitor Center, Fort Harrison Battlefield Grounds, and Malvern Hill Battlefield to learn about how NPS preserves the stories at these sites.

During this past week’s recess, I answered constituent questions in two town halls, toured Thermo Fisher Scientific and the LEGO packaging center and factory construction site, celebrated Earth Day and National Park Week, and more.   Keep watching to see what you might have missed this week.
This year, I launched the VA-04 Youth Advisory Council to provide district high school students the chance to learn about the legislative process and provide their insights into the work that goes on in Washington. This month, I answered their questions and celebrated their end of the program.

Excited to announce this year’s VA-04 Women of Excellence Award Winners! These seven extraordinary women deserve recognition for their meaningful contributions to our communities, and I invite you to celebrate them for the invaluable work they do.

My heart goes out to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of this week’s tragic violence. No community should have to live under the threat of terror. I will continue to monitor this situation as more information becomes available.
Two years ago, I joined LEGO to break ground on a carbon-neutral factory right here in VA-04. I returned with Rep. Wittman to tour the current packaging facility and factory construction site in Chesterfield County and get an update on only the second LEGO facility in the Americas.

My statement on Senior District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly blocking parts of President Trump’s executive order to restrict voter registration, threatening millions of Americans’ fundamental right to vote.
Statement graphic. Text reads, “Today’s decision affirms that Congress and the States, not the President, regulate federal elections and determines eligibility to vote therein. I applaud Judge Kollar-Kotelly for blocking President Trump’s effort to change voter registration requirements by Presidential fiat. Today’s order is a victory for separation of powers in a larger battle against President Trump’s efforts to ignore his responsibilities to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Logo of Rep. McClellan is present at the bottom center of the page.
