Happy Labor Day, Rhode Island! Today, we honor the hard work of those who build our communities and power our economy. I am standing with workers to fight Trump’s threats to collective bargaining, strengthen workers’ protections, and expand our union workforce.
Thanks to the Bristol Middle Passage Port Marker Project team, sculptor Spencer Evans, and foundry artist Jeff Buccacio, this new sculpture continues the community work to heal and speak truth to Bristol's role in the transatlantic slave trade.
International students enrich our college campuses for every student, support local economies, and increase goodwill toward America. Trump’s policies are destroying the positive impact of our colleges and universities. apnews.com/article/inte...
Kicked off the festivities for the annual Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races and Taiwan Day Festival!🐉 There’s no better way to celebrate our vibrant Taiwanese-American community and the ties our countries share than with dragon boats and dumplings in Pawtucket.
Big Win: Federal Court rules Trump's tariffs are illegal. Rhode Island small businesses and their customers are already paying the price of his erratic tariffs. But cautiously relieved they might be rolled back as Democrats in Congress work to reassert tariff authority.
Trump cutting $11.25 million in RI port funding makes no sense. The Port of Davisville drives Rhode Island’s economy and provides families with good union jobs. This action is anti-growth, anti-infrastructure, and anti-American competitiveness.
#OTD August 29th, 1778, at the height of the American Revolution, the first racially integrated American military unit, the First RI Regiment, forced the British Army to retreat from Portsmouth.
Gathered with so many Rhode Islanders to remember the late, great Judge Frank Caprio at his calling hours and funeral. As he said “Kindness is the one gift that costs nothing, but means everything. Give it freely, especially when it’s hard.” In his memory, let’s spread some kindness today.
🚨Trump is ILLEGALLY trying to rescind $5 billion MORE in foreign aid! 🚨 This money is good for America - it stops wars, famine, and PANDEMICS. Working with @houseforeign.bsky.social on a strategy to stop this.
Trump stopped all medical and humanitarian visas for Gazan children – indefinitely denying lifesaving medical care.   I joined @debbiedingell.house.gov, @repkimschrier.bsky.social, and 141 of our colleagues in demanding Secretary Rubio urgently reverse this dangerous and cruel decision.
The mass departure of CDC leaders will imperil public health for generations. Dr. Daskalakis is a principled public servant who I previously worked with at the White House — when science still mattered and we listened to experts.
My thoughts are with the victims & families affected by the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.  Thank you to the first responders for their quick response.  Back to school should not mean a return to school shootings — we must act to protect our communities.
