I made it clear to my colleagues before we voted on Trump’s Big Ugly Bill: rural hospitals won’t just struggle under it—they’ll shut down.
No one should die because their local hospital couldn’t keep its doors open. But that’s now the reality we’re facing because of the majority party in Congress.
2/ CLASI provides free or low-cost legal help to our neighbors across Delaware—and I’m always grateful to hear about the progress they make each day, and the challenges that remain.
1/ I was excited to meet with Community Legal Aid Society (CLASI) this week for a thoughtful conversation on equality and justice.
2/ Alongside @coons.senate.gov, @bluntrochester.senate.gov, and partners across Delaware, I won’t stop working to protect the dignity and stability that food assistance provides—and to prevent families across our state from going hungry.
1/ About 37,000 Delawareans are now at risk of facing devastating food assistance cuts because of Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill—which makes it easier for billionaires to buy a private jet than for working people to put food on the table.
Grateful to all the Delawareans who stopped by our Mobile Office Hours in Lewes recently.
Whether it’s getting your Social Security benefits or tracking down your federal tax refund—we’re here to help. If you need a hand, don’t hesitate to reach out at mcbride.house.gov.
Every time a patient loses health care coverage or a rural hospital shuts down because of the Big Ugly Bill, Congressional Republicans will own it.
Every time someone—on Medicaid or private insurance—pays more or waits longer for care, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans will own it.

“I think it's bulls---"
Democratic Congresswoman @mcbride.house.gov joins The Weeknight to break down how Republicans are framing deep cuts to the social safety net—and why she says the American people shouldn’t buy it.

Congressional Republicans will try to claim that the Big Ugly Bill helps working people, but the American people know that’s bullshit.
This was never about helping working people. It was about gutting Medicaid, slashing food assistance, and crushing small businesses while the rich get richer.
2/ I’ll continue to do all I can to defend Delawareans from the harmful cuts that Republicans in Congress are hellbent on making, especially those who rely on it most—like kids, seniors, and older Americans.
1/ AARP Delaware told me plainly: cuts to Medicaid, food assistance, or paid leave won’t help older Americans—they’ll hurt them.
Grateful to meet with the One Step At A Time Foundation, whose work with under-resourced Delaware youth and families is transforming lives. From mentorship to financial literacy, they're building stronger communities—one step at a time.
2/ I’ll keep working with my colleagues to expand the resources that make their mission possible.
1/ Organizations like the Wilmington Police Athletic League (PAL) remind us that public safety and public opportunity go hand in hand. I was proud to visit recently and see firsthand how Wilmington PAL empowers youth across New Castle County to grow, thrive, and serve our state of neighbors.
2/ Congress must ensure this community has the resources it needs to recover and rebuild.
1/ Devastating news out of Central Texas. I’m praying for the campers and staff who lost their lives in this horrific flood—and for their families, loved ones, and the first responders as they navigate this unfathomable tragedy.
My open letter to Delaware about what this budget means for our neighbors: www.delawareonline.com/story/opinio...
This isn’t a budget. It’s trickle-down cruelty.
Today proved Republicans meant what they said about one thing: cutting taxes for the wealthy.
Everything else? Empty promises.
Trumpcare rips health care from 17 million people—including 54,000 in Delaware. It guts Medicaid, slashes SNAP, and puts rural hospitals at risk.
Leader @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social has been speaking on the floor of the House since 4:53 am to shine a big bright spotlight on this big ugly bill — highlighting my amendment that would have protected seniors who rely on Medicare and Medicaid. But Republicans dismissed it.
