I’m absolutely devastated by the news coming out of Minnesota. My heart breaks for the victims of this terrible tragedy, for their families, and for the entire Minneapolis community.
Words will never be enough. Nor will thoughts and prayers.
We need real, meaningful action—and we need it now.

I know crime is a concern in D.C. I’ve seen it outside my apartment.
But real solutions come from investing in communities, not military occupations.
If Trump truly wanted to help, he wouldn't withhold $1 billion from the city. He'd fund programs that actually reduce violence and support families.
Health and food security are national, bipartisan issues. Communities have an enormous role to play. But so does Congress
These funds were approved by Republicans and Democrats alike. No president should be allowed to claw them back—especially one who that pretends to care about our farmers. (3/3)
The good news: Republicans know these cuts will hurt farmers in their districts, too.
I was able to work with a few of them to introduce a bipartisan bill that would boost local food distribution, strengthen connections between producers and programs, and improve access to healthy food. (2/3)
🧵
Since launching earlier this year, the Farm to Neighbor program has expanded to 75 farms, becoming a lifeline for Maine farmers impacted by Trump's illegal funding cuts.
It’s a beautiful example of communities coming together.
But they shouldn’t have to bear this responsibility alone. (1/3)
Trump just halted a nearly completed wind project that was set to power 350K homes at a stable rate for 20 years.
Over 1,000 jobs—gone.
Electric bills—up.
All to protect Big Oil.
This isn’t "national security." It’s political sabotage.
They'd rather destroy our future than build a better one.
🚨 DOGE dumped the entire SS database—names, addresses, birth dates, SSNs—onto a vulnerable cloud server.
Millions of Americans now face the risk of identity theft.
In what universe does this qualify as "efficiency"?
Congress must hold DOGE accountable for the enormous vulnerability they created.
He’s totally fine with pardoning people who used flags to beat police officers in an attempted coup, but wants anyone who burns one to spend a year in jail?
Unreal.
Executive Orders are not laws. They cannot override the Constitution or SCOTUS.
This is illegal and unconstitutional. Period.
In 1989, SCOTUS ruled that flag burning constitutes protected speech.
It's a serious and provocative act—and exactly the kind of political expression the First Amendment exists to safeguard. The courts have confirmed this time and time again.
Trump thinks he can overrule them with a pen stroke.
That’s why @golden.house.gov, @senangusking.bsky.social, Senator Collins, and I introduced the bipartisan Future Logging Careers Act—to give young Mainers the chance to safely learn in family logging operations and carry this heritage industry into the future.
Last week, I got an up-close look (hence the hardhat) at the Mechanized Logging Operations and Forest Trucking program at Kennebec Valley Community College.
The dedication of these students and instructors underscores how vital it is to invest in programs that connect Mainers to good-paying jobs.
If you believe Trump’s attempt to eliminate “woke” exhibits is justified, maybe give this a read.
They don't “hate America.” They want it to live up to its ideals. Not by ignoring history, but learning from it.
Artists and historians aren't the enemies. People who try to erase art and history are.
The future of our country is on the line. All of us—regardless of party or politics—have a role to play in ensuring that future is one where everyone’s voices and votes still matter.
We have to keep fighting back. I promise to do just that. And @housedemocrats.bsky.social will, too.
Saying the quiet part out loud.
He’s clearly testing the waters. This isn't a joke. Just like him saying you’ll “never have to vote again.”
We need to take these threats seriously.
Trump is an authoritarian megalomaniac who doesn’t give a shit about anything but enriching and empowering himself.
The attacks on aid depots, hospitals, and humanitarian sites are unacceptable. The UN estimates 1,500+ health workers have been killed since the start of the war.
I’m leading an effort in Congress to protect aid workers—and ensure accountability for those who target them.
The U.S. must act.
This morning, Israel fired a missile into Gaza's main hospital. As journalists and rescuers rushed to the scene, they fired another.
At least 20 people have been killed, including an aid worker and several journalists.
Not one more taxpayer dollar should be used to fund these awful atrocities.
Because of Trump’s dangerous actions, D.C. businesses are already hurting.
Now, troops are being told to carry guns like they’re an occupying force.
This isn’t about safety. It’s about one man with a fragile ego and authoritarian aims controlling "blue" cities.
This is how fascist regimes behave.
The State of Maine's and Lewiston’s resolutions recognizing this day reflects what so many of us feel: solidarity with the Ukrainian people as they defend their sovereignty and democracy against Russia’s brutal war.
Maine stands with Ukraine. Always. 🇺🇦
On this Ukrainian Independence Day, I’m proud that communities here in Maine—like Lewiston—are joining the world in supporting Ukraine’s fight for freedom.
Their idea for celebrating our country’s 250th birthday—by putting artists old and new in “conversation”—was especially inspiring.
America really is an ongoing (and sometimes difficult) dialogue. One that no President should be able to dictate.
Huge thanks to the OMAA team for a wonderful visit.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
