Trump's attacks on housing assistance programs are worsening the housing crisis. And while he threatens wars abroad, Democrats are focused on lowering costs at home. Today, I'm co-hosting a @usprogressives.bsky.social shadow hearing on housing affordability. Tune in at 2pm:

Building the New American Dream: Lowering Housing Costs for All

A Congressional Progressive Caucus shadow hearing on tackling housing affordability.

Hosted by CPC Lowering Costs Taskforce Chair Yassamin Ansari, Deputy Chair Ilhan Omar, & Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley

Wednesday, January 14th at 2PM ET
It is our duty as Members of Congress to conduct oversight at ICE detention facilities. But Trump & Noem are trying to block us from doing our job and holding them accountable for the inhumane treatment of our immigrant neighbors. We’re taking them to court.
A tweet by Kyle Cheney that reads: OVERNIGHT: House Democrats went back to court to block Secretary Noemn's renewed effort to block unannounced congressional oversight of ICE facilities.
BREAKING: I'm reintroducing my bill with @markey.senate.gov to end qualified immunity for federal officers—including ICE agents. This bill is for Renee Good, Keith Porter, & everyone in America to know that when ICE agents break the law & kill our neighbors, they'll be held accountable.
My friend Alice Wong was a civil rights & disability justice activist, community organizer, & author. She was unapologetic in her pursuit of building a more just world & shining a light on issues society hesitated to address. She is deeply missed, but her legacy carries on.
In @oversightdemocrats.bsky.social this week, I moved to subpoena all records & footage related to Renee’s murder. Every Republican voted it down. Now, the FBI has blocked Minnesota officials from conducting an independent investigation. Republicans have never cared about accountability.
A graphic with a Common Dreams article title that reads: GOP Votes Down Pressley's Motion to Investigate Minneapolis ICE Shooting.
Congratulations to #MA7's very own Super Bowl Champions, the Randolph High School Blue Devils! These student-athletes have made their school & families proud. And proven to themselves & Massachusetts that Randolph has the talent & commitment to succeed on & off the field. Go Blue Devils!
Families at home are struggling to pay for healthcare, housing, & groceries thanks to Donald Trump. But instead of addressing affordability, he's spending billions of dollars on an endless war in Venezuela. The House must take up the Senate-passed bill to stop this war.
Five Republicans join Democrats to force Senate check on Trump's war powers in Venezuela, delivering a notable rebuke of the president. https://cnn.it/4aQiFcO
ICE is a rogue, violent agency that moves with reckless disregard for human life & due process. It has no business in our communities & it must be abolished. The agents that murdered Renee & blocked her from receiving medical care on site must be held fully accountable.
We CANNOT stand by while Black unemployment remains significantly higher than the overall rate of 4.4%. The @federalreserve.gov must address this crisis NOW & brief @cbc.house.gov on its plans. This is about Black families & Black futures — and the health of our economy overall.
A tweet by @cjgproduxions.bsky.social that reads:

Black women unemployment rate rises from 7.1% to 7.3%

Black men falls to 6.9%
🚨After we forced a vote, the House passed our bill to restore the ACA subsidies Republicans let expire. This is an important step toward saving healthcare for millions of families—and a testament to what's possible when we organize & fight back. The Senate must follow suit.
BREAKING: House passes bill to extend health care subsidies despite GOP leadership's opposition, putting pressure on the Senate to act.
