Happy Veterans Day!
Our veterans are defenders of democracy & freedom, and our communities are stronger thanks to their service, contributions, & sacrifices.
I'll never stop fighting for them to live with dignity, respect, quality healthcare, adequate housing, and so much more.
Trump's refusal to fully fund SNAP will have devastating impacts on our local economies, urban farmers, & food sellers.
Including Davey's in Roxbury, a staple since 1983.
Trump's violent policy choice to let people go hungry is harming their business and the families they feed.
People want their members of Congress to fight for them with everything we've got.
Senate Democrats should listen and reject this funding deal that does nothing to stop healthcare costs from skyrocketing.
Trump claims to be patriotic—yet he's denying food to our veterans, servicemembers, seniors, and babies by refusing to fund SNAP.
As James Baldwin said, "I can't believe what you say, because I see what you do."
Head Start programs provide essential child care, nutritious meals, & a quality early education for our kids.
Now, Trump & Republicans' govt shutdown is forcing Head Start programs to close.
They're intentionally taking children out of school and making families scramble for support.
With Trump enacting wholesale harm, I'm grateful for our orgs in the #MA7 standing in the gap providing essential services, protecting our neighbors, & more.
I held check-ins with La Colaborativa & Chelsea Black Community to hear from them & how we can continue our work to support our communities.
Our food service workers, custodians, & security workers keep our government running.
But this Republican govt shutdown is denying them work & pay — for no fault of their own.
The Fair Pay for Federal Contractors Act would ensure they get the back pay they deserve once the govt reopens.
Deeply disappointing.
The Trump administration is doing everything possible to NOT feed our families.
And our most vulnerable communities are suffering as a result.
This is a victory for our families, and I'm grateful to our state & local partners, advocates, & organizers who made it possible.
It's a shame it took multiple court orders for Trump to do the right thing.
And it's even more damning that he's fighting to overturn the ruling.
WARNING: The violence and cruelty is hard to watch, but impossible for families to endure.
This is a sickening example of Trump and ICE's blatant disregard for humanity as they terrorize our families and communities.
It is shameful, cruel, and it must end.
Donald Trump is doing everything he can to NOT feed your family during the govt shutdown he created.
Court after court has told his Administration to fully fund SNAP without delay, but he refuses to.
He has contempt for the people and the cruelty is the point.
Republicans speak with a mouthful of scripture but carry a heart full of hate.
They shut down the govt, cut food assistance, & jack up healthcare costs—all while pushing harmful stereotypes of struggle.
Poverty isn't a moral failing & struggle doesn't discriminate — it finds all of us.
Air traffic controllers unpaid. Flights delayed & cancelled.
And now Trump is shutting down 10% of air traffic at our busiest airports, including Boston Logan.
Republicans must reopen the govt.
I'll keep fighting for our airport workers & their rightful pay.
I'm grateful for the work we've done together to support women, girls, and folks in the MA-7th and across the country.
Your stewardship of the gavel has helped move our nation forward and it's been an honor to serve alongside you during these unprecedented times.
Thank you, Madam Speaker.
Thank you for your grit, grace, unshakeable faith, and strategic brilliance.
You've been the most effective Speaker of the House in American history, breaking barriers, fighting hard for workers and families, and serving as a mentor to so many of us.
Federal workers ensure your heat is on, your families are fed, your childcare needs are met, & more.
They deserve dignity & respect. But under the Trump-Republican shutdown, they are losing both their livelihoods and their ability to serve our communities.
Shameful.
ICE abducted 9 documented workers at a car wash in Allston & denied them the chance to retrieve their documents — this is cruel & harrowing.
My office is in touch with the families and working with them to track down their loved ones & connect them with legal counsel.
Today is day 36 of Trump's govt shutdown, the longest shutdown in US history—second only to his 2019 shutdown.
Republicans continue making history for all the wrong reasons.
It's time for them to reopen the govt, save healthcare, & feed our families.
And the people agree.
