Yesterday, I joined the Chicago Fire Department in their tribute to the victims of the September 11th attacks. We faced east together, towards New York—honoring the 2,977 American lives lost and remembering the firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and others who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Tonight begins Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish new year.  I wish everyone celebrating a happy new year, one that brings you and your family good health, comfort, and peace. L’Shanah tovah umetukah!
This morning marks 25 years since the historic attacks on September 11, 2001, when 2,977 American lives were stolen. In the face of horror, countless firefighters, first responders, U.S. servicemembers, and ordinary Americans ran towards danger and answered the call to help our nation.
Dr. Abu Safiya is a Palestinian pediatrician and longtime director of a Gaza hospital. Nearly two years ago, Israeli authorities detained him without charge or trial. Now, his lawyer says his physical condition is "near death."
In another move to add $1 TRILLION to the national debt, President Trump tried to bribe voters by offering Americans $5,000 dividends “if Republicans win the House and the Senate” this November.   The emperor has no clothes. The American people see this for what it is: another false promise.
Last fall, ICE and CBP launched an all-out assault on Chicago with Midway Blitz. It’s been a year of peaceful resistance and advocacy against their illegal mass deportation operation.   Yesterday, I was proud to stand with @chuygarcia.house.gov and continue the fight to protect our community.
Trump’s Department of Justice is still hiding half of the 5 MILLION Epstein Files from the public—nine months after Congress voted to release them.   That’s why I recently joined over 100 other members—Democrats AND Republicans—in signing this discharge petition.

I was honored to meet the team at Mechanista, including Lead Technician Ray. Our trades are vital to our workforce—but only 2% of all American car mechanics are women! Ray and her team are working to change that, by getting more women and nonbinary people the hands-on job training they need.
Happy Labor Day!! Today, we celebrate America's workers who make our country stronger and honor success of the labor movement in getting us weekends and ending child labor. This Labor Day, I'm recommitted to protecting workers’ rights, raising wages, and creating more good-paying jobs.
September is also National Recovery Month. Addiction is an illness, and we have to treat it as such. This month, let's work together to end the stigma, support every American in recovery, and expand access to affordable, quality healthcare.
September is National Suicide Prevention Month—a time when we remember those affected by suicide and dedicate ourselves to expanding access to mental healthcare for all. You are NOT alone. If you or someone you know needs help, call or text the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.
