In Victoria’s words: “Health care is non-negotiable, and I refuse to risk my or my loved ones’ lives over budget savings.”

Let’s not lose sight: the fight to protect Medicaid isn’t about numbers—it’s about people.
I shared the stories of two constituents, Victoria and Stephen, who rely on Medicaid for the essential care they need to survive.
Republicans say their bill won’t touch traditional Medicaid.
But here’s the truth: their deep Medicaid cuts mean higher costs for hospitals, putting Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, and even whole hospitals on the line.

This week, Republicans marked up a bill to take health care and food assistance away from millions of Americans in order to pay for tax breaks for Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.
The Democratic Doctors Caucus will stop at nothing to prevent these reckless cuts and stand up for our communities.
We gave them one hell of a fight. Thank you for following along and learning about all the devastating cuts.
The fight isn’t over. I’m all in.
26 hours and 30 minutes later, the marathon meeting is over. Sadly, the Republican majority passed their bill with no Democratic support because it strips health care from 13.7 million people.
We’ve officially passed the 24-hour mark in this marathon debate over threats to Medicaid.
It’s simple: this bill will raise health care costs for millions of Americans. We’re fighting hard ‘till the very end.

One highlight I want to share with you.
20 hours in… ⏰
In need of a shower.
It’s 4:05 AM, and we’re hearing over and over from Republicans that this bill will not cut benefits. Not true.
When you legislate, you have got to look at the big picture!
It’s late. We’re tired. But we’re still here - standing strong, pushing back, and fighting like hell for your health care.

Family first!
Republicans are claiming that this reconciliation bill will cut waste, fraud, and abuse. @repjeffries and I are calling bullsh*t.
Victoria Lara is just one example of the millions of people who will be harmed by these atrocious Medicaid cuts. If House Republicans cared about their constituents and not their billionaire buddies, they would have already scrapped this dumpster fire of a bill.
Physicians are fighting for health care today! @drsforamerica.bsky.social
Hour 3... Going on 4 ⏰
Our hospitals do not have the funding now, and cutting Medicaid would be catastrophic.

Here’s my update, joined by Doctor Trivedi of National Physicians Alliance.
Republicans claim they’re only cutting waste, fraud, and abuse.
I call bullshit — they’re gutting Medicaid for over 13 million people.
We’ve begun, stay tuned for more updates…
Today’s the day. Republicans just dropped their bill to gut your health care, and they’re trying to pass it tonight while you sleep. I’ll be in committee late, fighting to protect Medicaid.
